Sura 20 - Taa-Haa

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Kwa Jina La Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwingi Wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu.
20:1
طه
*T´AHA!
*Ta Ha!
20:2
مَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَىٰ
*Hatukukuteremshia Qur´ani ili upate mashaka.
*We did not send down to you the Quran that you should be miserable,
20:3
إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةً لِمَنْ يَخْشَىٰ
*Bali ni mawaidha kwa wenye kunyenyekea.
*but only as an admonition to him who fears [his Lord].
20:4
تَنْزِيلًا مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ الْعُلَى
*Materemsho yatokayo kwa aliye umba ardhi na mbingu zilizo juu.
*A sending down [of the Revelation] from Him who created the earth and the lofty heavens
20:5
الرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَىٰ
*Arrahmani, Mwingi wa Rehema, aliye tawala juu ya Kiti cha Enzi.
*—the All-beneficent, settled on the Throne.
20:6
لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ الثَّرَىٰ
*Ni vyake vyote viliomo mbinguni na viliomo katika ardhi, na viliomo baina yao, na viliomo chini ya ardhi.
*To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and whatever is between them, and whatever is under the ground.
20:7
وَإِنْ تَجْهَرْ بِالْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى
*Na ukinyanyua sauti kwa kusema...basi hakika Yeye anajua siri na duni kuliko siri.
*Whether you speak loudly [or in secret tones,] He indeed knows the secret and what is still more hidden.
20:8
اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ
*Mwenyezi Mungu! Hapana mungu isipo kuwa Yeye. Yeye ana majina mazuri kabisa.
*Allah—there is no god except Him—to Him belong the Best Names.
20:9
وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ
*Na je! Imekufikia hadithi ya Musa?
*Did the story of Moses come to you,
20:10
إِذْ رَأَىٰ نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا لَعَلِّي آتِيكُمْ مِنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى النَّارِ هُدًى
*Alipo uona moto, akawaambia watu wake: Ngojeni! Mimi nimeuona moto, huenda nikakuleteeni kijinga kutoka huo moto, au nikapata uongofu kwenye moto.
*when he sighted a fire, and said to his family, ‘Wait! Indeed, I descry a fire! Maybe I will bring you a brand from it, or find some guidance at the fire.’
20:11
فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا نُودِيَ يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Basi alipo ufikia akaitwa: Ewe Musa!
*So when he came to it, he was called, ‘O Moses!
20:12
إِنِّي أَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
*Hakika Mimi ndiye Mola wako Mlezi! Basi vua viatu vyako. Kwani upo katika bonde takatifu la T´uwa.
*Indeed I am your Lord! So take off your sandals. You are indeed in the sacred valley of Tuwa.
20:13
وَأَنَا اخْتَرْتُكَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰ
*Nami nimekuteua wewe; basi sikiliza unayo funuliwa.
*I have chosen you; so listen to what is revealed.
20:14
إِنَّنِي أَنَا اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِي وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي
*Hakika Mimi ndiye Mwenyezi Mungu. Hapana mungu ila Mimi tu. Basi niabudu Mimi, na ushike Sala kwa ajili ya kunikumbuka Mimi.
*Indeed I am Allah—there is no god except Me. So worship Me, and maintain the prayer for My remembrance.
20:15
إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ
*Hakika Saa itakuja bila ya shaka. Nimekaribia kuificha, ili kila nafsi ilipwe kwa iliyo yafanya.
*Indeed the Hour is bound to come: I will have it hidden, so that every soul may be rewarded for its endeavour.
20:16
فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَنْ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ
*Kwa hivyo asikukengeushe nayo yule ambaye haiamini na akafuata pumbao lake ukaja kuhiliki.
*So do not let yourself be distracted from it by those who do not believe in it and who follow their desires, or you will perish.’
20:17
وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Na nini hicho kilichomo mkononi mwako wa kulia, ewe Musa?
*‘Moses, what is that in your right hand?’
20:18
قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِي وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَآرِبُ أُخْرَىٰ
*Akasema: Hii ni fimbo yangu; naiegemea na ninawaangushia majani kondoo na mbuzi wangu. Tena inanifaa kwa matumizi mengine.
*He said, ‘It is my staff. I lean on it, and with it I beat down leaves for my sheep; and I have other uses for it.’
20:19
قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Akasema: Itupe, ewe Musa!
*He said, ‘Moses, throw it down.’
20:20
فَأَلْقَاهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ حَيَّةٌ تَسْعَىٰ
*Akaitupa. Mara ikawa nyoka anaye kwenda mbio.
*So he threw it down, and behold, it was a snake, moving swiftly.
20:21
قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ ۖ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا الْأُولَىٰ
*Akasema: Ikamate, wala usiogope! Tutairudisha hali yake ya kwanza.
*He said, ‘Take hold of it, and do not fear. We will restore it to its former state.
20:22
وَاضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ آيَةً أُخْرَىٰ
*Na uambatishe mkono wako kwenye ubavu. Utatoka mweupe pasipo kuwa na madhara yoyote. Hiyo ni ishara nyengine.
*Now clasp your hand to your armpit: it will emerge white, without any harm—[this is yet] another sign,
20:23
لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا الْكُبْرَى
*Ili tukuonyeshe baadhi ya ishara zetu kubwa.
*that We may show you some of Our great signs.
20:24
اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ
*Nenda kwa Firauni; kwani hakika yeye amepindukia mipaka.
*Go to Pharaoh. He has indeed rebelled.’
20:25
قَالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي
*(Musa) akasema: Ewe Mola wangu Mlezi! Nikunjulie kifua changu,
*He said, ‘My Lord! Open my breast for me.
20:26
وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي
*Na unifanyie nyepesi kazi yangu,
*Make my task easy for me.
20:27
وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي
*Na ulifungue fundo lililo katika ulimi wangu,
*Remove the hitch from my tongue,
20:28
يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
*Wapate kufahamu maneno yangu.
*[so that] they may understand my speech.
20:29
وَاجْعَلْ لِي وَزِيرًا مِنْ أَهْلِي
*Na nipe waziri katika watu wangu,
*Appoint for me a minister from my family,
20:30
هَارُونَ أَخِي
*Harun, ndugu yangu.
*Aaron, my brother.
20:31
اشْدُدْ بِهِ أَزْرِي
*Kwake yeye niongeze nguvu zangu.
*Strengthen my back through him,
20:32
وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِي أَمْرِي
*Na umshirikishe katika kazi yangu.
*and make him my associate in my task,
20:33
كَيْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرًا
*Ili tukutakase sana.
*so that we may glorify You greatly,
20:34
وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا
*Na tukukumbuke sana.
*and remember You greatly.
20:35
إِنَّكَ كُنْتَ بِنَا بَصِيرًا
*Hakika Wewe unatuona.
*Indeed You see us best.’
20:36
قَالَ قَدْ أُوتِيتَ سُؤْلَكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Akasema: Hakika Umepewa maombi yako, ewe Musa!
*He said, ‘Moses, your request has been granted!
20:37
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَىٰ
*Na hakika tulikwisha kufanyia hisani mara nyengine...
*Certainly, We have done you a favour another time,
20:38
إِذْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَىٰ
*Pale tulipo mfunulia mama yako yaliyo funuliwa,
*when We revealed to your mother whatever was to be revealed:
20:39
أَنِ اقْذِفِيهِ فِي التَّابُوتِ فَاقْذِفِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ فَلْيُلْقِهِ الْيَمُّ بِالسَّاحِلِ يَأْخُذْهُ عَدُوٌّ لِي وَعَدُوٌّ لَهُ ۚ وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً مِنِّي وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِي
*Ya kuwa mtie katika kisanduku, na kisha kitie mtoni, na mto utamfikisha ufukweni. Atamchukua adui yangu naye ni adui yake. Na nimekutilia mapenzi yanayo tokana kwangu, na ili ulelewe machoni mwangu.
*“Put him in the casket, and cast it into the river. Then the river will cast it on the bank, and he shall be picked up by an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his.” And I made you endearing, and that you might be reared under My [watchful] eyes.
20:40
إِذْ تَمْشِي أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَكْفُلُهُ ۖ فَرَجَعْنَاكَ إِلَىٰ أُمِّكَ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ ۚ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَاكَ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّاكَ فُتُونًا ۚ فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِي أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍ يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Dada yako alipo kwenda na akasema: Je! Nikujuulisheni mtu wa kuweza kumlea? Basi tukakurejesha kwa mama yako ili macho yake yaburudike, wala asihuzunike. Na ulimuuwa mtu, nasi tukakuokoa katika dhiki, na tukakujaribu kwa majaribio mengi. Ukakaa miaka kwa watu wa Madyana. Kisha ukaja kama ilivyo kadiriwa, ewe Musa!
*When your sister walked up [to Pharaoh’s palace] saying, “Shall I show you someone who will take care of him?” Then We restored you to your mother, that she might not grieve and be comforted. Then you slew a soul, whereupon We delivered you from anguish, and We tried you with various ordeals. Then you stayed for several years among the people of Midian. Then you turned up as ordained, O Moses!
20:41
وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِي
*Na nimekuteuwa kwa ajili ya nafsi yangu.
*And I chose you for Myself.’
20:42
اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِآيَاتِي وَلَا تَنِيَا فِي ذِكْرِي
*Nenda, wewe na ndugu yako, pamoja na ishara zangu, wala msichoke kunikumbuka.
*‘Go ahead, you and your brother, with My signs and do not flag in My remembrance.
20:43
اذْهَبَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ
*Nendeni kwa Firauni. Hakika yeye amepindukia mipaka.
*Both of you go to Pharaoh, for he has indeed rebelled.
20:44
فَقُولَا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَيِّنًا لَعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ
*Mwambieni maneno laini, huenda akazingatia au akaogopa.
*Speak to him in a soft manner; maybe he will take admonition or fear.’
20:45
قَالَا رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَنْ يَفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَا أَوْ أَنْ يَطْغَىٰ
*Wakasema: Ewe Mola wetu Mlezi! Hakika sisi tunaogopa asije akapindukia mipaka juu yetu au kufanya jeuri.
*They said, ‘Our Lord! We are indeed afraid that he will forestall us or will exceed all bounds.’
20:46
قَالَ لَا تَخَافَا ۖ إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ
*Akasema: Msiogope! Hakika Mimi ni pamoja nanyi. Nasikia na ninaona.
*He said, ‘Do not be afraid, for I will be with the two of you, hearing and seeing [whatever happens].
20:47
فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْهُمْ ۖ قَدْ جِئْنَاكَ بِآيَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَىٰ
*Basi mwendeeni, na mwambieni: Hakika sisi ni Mitume wa Mola wako Mlezi! Basi waache Wana wa Israili watoke nasi, wala usiwaadhibu. Sisi tumekuletea ishara itokayo kwa Mola wako Mlezi. Na amani itakuwa juu ya aliye fuata uwongofu.
*So approach him and say, ‘‘We are the apostles of your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not torture them! We certainly bring you a sign from your Lord, and may peace be upon him who follows guidance!
20:48
إِنَّا قَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْنَا أَنَّ الْعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
*Hakika tumefunuliwa sisi kwamba hapana shaka adhabu itamsibu anaye kadhibisha na akapuuza.
*Indeed it has been revealed to us that punishment shall befall those who impugn us and turn their backs [on us].’’ ’
20:49
قَالَ فَمَنْ رَبُّكُمَا يَا مُوسَىٰ
*(Firauni) akasema: Basi Mola wenu Mlezi ni nani, ewe Musa?
*He said, ‘Who is your Lord, Moses?’
20:50
قَالَ رَبُّنَا الَّذِي أَعْطَىٰ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلْقَهُ ثُمَّ هَدَىٰ
*Akasema: Mola wetu Mlezi ni yule aliye kipa kila kitu umbo lake, kisha akakiongoa.
*He said, ‘Our Lord is He who gave everything its creation and then guided it.’
20:51
قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ الْقُرُونِ الْأُولَىٰ
*Akasema: Nini hali ya karne za kwanza?
*He said, ‘What about the former generations?’
20:52
قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّي فِي كِتَابٍ ۖ لَا يَضِلُّ رَبِّي وَلَا يَنْسَى
*Akasema: Ilimu yake iko kwa Mola wangu Mlezi katika Kitabu. Mola wangu Mlezi hapotei wala hasahau.
*He said, ‘Their knowledge is with my Lord, in a Book. My Lord neither makes any error nor forgets.’
20:53
الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا وَأَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْ نَبَاتٍ شَتَّىٰ
*Ambaye amekufanyieni ardhi kuwa tandiko, na akakupitishieni humo njia, na akakuteremshieni kutoka mbinguni maji. Na kwa hayo tukatoa namna mbali mbali za mimema.
*He, who made the earth for you a cradle, and in it threaded for you ways, and sent down water from the sky, and with it We brought forth various kinds of vegetation.
20:54
كُلُوا وَارْعَوْا أَنْعَامَكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي النُّهَىٰ
*Kuleni, na mchunge wanyama wenu. Hakika katika hayo zipo ishara kwa wenye akili.
*‘Eat and pasture your cattle.’ There are indeed signs in that for those who have sense.
20:55
مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ
*Kutokana nayo (ardhi) tumekuumbeni, na humo tunakurudisheni, na kutoka humo tutakutoeni mara nyengine.
*From it did We create you, into it shall We return you, and from it shall We bring you forth another time.
20:56
وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ
*Na hakika tulimwonyesha ishara zetu zote. Lakini alikadhibisha na akakataa.
*Certainly We showed him all Our signs. But he denied [them] and refused [to believe them].
20:57
قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنْ أَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Akasema: Ewe Musa! Hivyo umetujia kututoa katika nchi yetu kwa uchawi wako?
*He said, ‘Moses, have you come to us to expel us from our land with your magic?
20:58
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍ مِثْلِهِ فَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَا نُخْلِفُهُ نَحْنُ وَلَا أَنْتَ مَكَانًا سُوًى
*Basi sisi hakika tutakueletea uchawi kama huo. Basi weka miadi baina yetu na wewe, ambayo tusiivunje sisi wala wewe, mahali patapo kuwa sawa.
*Yet we [too] will bring you a magic like it! So fix a tryst between us and you, which neither we shall fail nor you, at a middle place.’
20:59
قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ الزِّينَةِ وَأَنْ يُحْشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًى
*Akasema: Miadi yenu ni siku ya Sikukuu; na watu wakusanywe kabla ya adhuhuri.
*He said, ‘Your tryst shall be the Day of Adornment, and let the people be assembled in early forenoon.’
20:60
فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَىٰ
*Basi Firauni akarudi na akatengeneza hila yake, kisha akaja.
*Then Pharaoh withdrew [to consult privately], summoned up his guile, and then arrived [at the scene of the contest].
20:61
قَالَ لَهُمْ مُوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُمْ بِعَذَابٍ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ افْتَرَىٰ
*Musa akamwambia: Ole wenu! Msimzulie Mwenyezi Mungu uwongo, asije akakufutilieni mbali kwa adhabu. Na mwenye kuzua lazima ashindwe!
*Moses said to them, ‘Woe to you! Do not fabricate lies against Allah, or He will obliterate you with a punishment. Whoever fabricates lies certainly fails.’
20:62
فَتَنَازَعُوا أَمْرَهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَىٰ
*Basi wakazozana kwa shauri yao wenyewe kwa wenyewe, na wakanong´ona kwa siri.
*So they disputed their matter among themselves, and kept their confidential talks secret.
20:63
قَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَانِ لَسَاحِرَانِ يُرِيدَانِ أَنْ يُخْرِجَاكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُمْ بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ الْمُثْلَىٰ
*Wakasema: Hakika hawa wawili ni wachawi, wanataka kukutoeni katika nchi yenu kwa uchawi wao, na waondoe mila zenu zilizo bora kabisa.
*They said, ‘These two are indeed magicians who intend to expel you from your land with their magic, and to abolish your excellent tradition!
20:64
فَأَجْمِعُوا كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ائْتُوا صَفًّا ۚ وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْيَوْمَ مَنِ اسْتَعْلَىٰ
*Kwa hivyo kusanyeni hila zenu zote, kisha mfike kwa kujipanga safu, na kwa yakini atafuzu kweli kweli leo atakaye shinda.
*So summon up your ingenuity, then come in ranks. Today he who has the upper hand will be felicitous!’
20:65
قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِمَّا أَنْ تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ نَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ
*Wakasema: Ewe Musa! Je! Utatupa wewe, au tutakuwa sisi wa kwanza kutupa?
*They said, ‘O Moses! Will you throw first, or shall we?’
20:66
قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا ۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَىٰ
*Akasema: Bali tupeni nyinyi! Tahamaki kamba zao na fimbo zao zikaonekana mbele yake, kwa uchawi wao, kuwa zinapiga mbio.
*He said, ‘No, you throw first.’ Thereupon, behold, their ropes and staffs appeared to him by their magic to wriggle swiftly.
20:67
فَأَوْجَسَ فِي نَفْسِهِ خِيفَةً مُوسَىٰ
*Basi Musa akaingia khofu nafsi yake.
*Then Moses felt a fear within his heart.
20:68
قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْأَعْلَىٰ
*Tukasema: Usikhofu! Hakika wewe ndiye utakaye shinda.
*We said, ‘Do not be afraid. Indeed, you will have the upper hand.
20:69
وَأَلْقِ مَا فِي يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَعُوا ۖ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُوا كَيْدُ سَاحِرٍ ۖ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ السَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَىٰ
*Na kitupe kilicho katika mkono wako wa kulia; kitavimeza walivyo viunda. Hakika walivyo unda ni hila za mchawi tu, na mchawi hafanikiwi popote afikapo.
*Throw down what is in your right hand, and it will swallow what they have conjured. What they have conjured is only a magician’s trick, and the magician does not fare well wherever he may show up.’
20:70
فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًا قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَارُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ
*Basi wachawi wakaangushwa wanasujudu. Wakasema: Tumemuamini Mola Mlezi wa Harun na Musa!
*Thereat the magicians fell down prostrating. They said, ‘We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses!’
20:71
قَالَ آمَنْتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ ۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِي جُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَا أَشَدُّ عَذَابًا وَأَبْقَىٰ
*(Firauni) akasema: Oh! Mnamuamini kabla sijakupeni ruhusa? Hakika yeye ndiye mkubwa wenu aliye kufundisheni uchawi. Basi kwa yakini nitakukateni mikono yenu na miguu yenu kwa kutafautisha. Na nitakutundikeni misalabani katika vigogo vya mitende, na hapo kwa yakini mtajua ni nani katika sisi aliye mkali wa kuadhibu na kuiendeleza adhabu yake.
*He said, ‘Did you believe in him before I should permit you? He is indeed your chief who has taught you magic! Surely, I will cut off your hands and feet from opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will know which of us can inflict a severer and more lasting punishment.’
20:72
قَالُوا لَنْ نُؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَاءَنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالَّذِي فَطَرَنَا ۖ فَاقْضِ مَا أَنْتَ قَاضٍ ۖ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِي هَٰذِهِ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
*Wakasema: Hatutokukhiari wewe kuliko ishara waziwazi zilizo tujia, na kuliko yule aliye tuumba. Basi hukumu utavyo hukumu; kwani wewe unahukumu haya ya maisha ya duniani tu.
*They said, ‘We will never prefer you to the clear proofs which have come to us, and to Him who originated us. Decide whatever you want to decide. You can only decide about the life of this world.
20:73
إِنَّا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَايَانَا وَمَا أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السِّحْرِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ
*Hakika sisi tumemuamini Mola wetu Mlezi ili atusamehe makosa yetu na uchawi ulio tulazimisha kuufanya. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye Mbora na Mwenye kudumu zaidi.
*We have indeed believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our offences and the magic you compelled us to perform. Allah is better and more lasting.’
20:74
إِنَّهُ مَنْ يَأْتِ رَبَّهُ مُجْرِمًا فَإِنَّ لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
*Hakika ataye mjia Mola wake Mlezi naye ni mkhalifu, basi kwa yakini, yake huyo ni Jahannamu. Hafi humo wala haishi.
*Whoever comes to his Lord laden with guilt, for him shall be hell, where he will neither live nor die.
20:75
وَمَنْ يَأْتِهِ مُؤْمِنًا قَدْ عَمِلَ الصَّالِحَاتِ فَأُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمُ الدَّرَجَاتُ الْعُلَىٰ
*Na atakaye mjia naye ni Muumini aliye tenda mema, basi hao ndio wenye vyeo vya juu.
*But whoever comes to Him with faith and he has done righteous deeds, for such shall be the highest ranks
20:76
جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ مَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ
*Bustani za milele zipitazo mito kati yake, wadumu humo. Na hayo ni malipo ya mwenye kujitakasa.
*—the Gardens of Eden, with streams running in them, to abide in them [forever], and that is the reward of him who keeps pure.
20:77
وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِي الْبَحْرِ يَبَسًا لَا تَخَافُ دَرَكًا وَلَا تَخْشَىٰ
*Na tulimfunulia Musa: Toka usiku na waja wangu, na uwapigie njia kavu baharini. Usikhofu kukamatwa, wala usiogope.
*We revealed to Moses, [saying], ‘Set out with My servants at night, and strike out for them a dry path through the sea. Do not be afraid of being overtaken, and have no fear [of getting drowned].
20:78
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِ فَغَشِيَهُمْ مِنَ الْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ
*Firauni akawafuata pamoja na majeshi yake. Basi kiliwafudikiza humo baharini kilicho wafudikiza.
*Then Pharaoh pursued them with his troops, whereat they were engulfed by what engulfed them of the sea.
20:79
وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُ وَمَا هَدَىٰ
*Na Firauni aliwapoteza watu wake wala hakuwaongoa.
*Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide them.
20:80
يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَدْ أَنْجَيْنَاكُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَاعَدْنَاكُمْ جَانِبَ الطُّورِ الْأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ
*Enyi Wana wa Israili! Hakika tulikuokoeni na adui yenu, na tukakuahidini upande wa kulia wa mlima. Na tulikuteremshieni Manna na Salwa.
*O Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We appointed with you a tryst on the right side of the Mount and We sent down to you manna and quails:
20:81
كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِي ۖ وَمَنْ يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِي فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ
*Kuleni katika vitu vizuri hivyo tulivyo kuruzukuni, wala msiruke mipaka katika hayo, isije ikakushukieni ghadhabu yangu. Na inaye mshukia ghadhabu yangu basi huyo ameangamia.
*‘Eat of the good things We have provided you, but do not overstep the bounds therein, lest My wrath should descend on you, and he on whom My wrath descends certainly perishes.
20:82
وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَىٰ
*Na hakika Mimi ni Mwingi wa Kusamehe kwa anaye tubia, na akaamini, na akatenda mema, tena akaongoka.
*Indeed I forgive those who repent, become faithful, act righteously, and follow guidance.’
20:83
وَمَا أَعْجَلَكَ عَنْ قَوْمِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ
*Na nini kilicho kutia haraka ukawaacha watu wako, ewe Musa?
*[God said,] ‘O Moses, what has prompted you to hasten ahead of your people?’
20:84
قَالَ هُمْ أُولَاءِ عَلَىٰ أَثَرِي وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَىٰ
*Akasema: Hao wapo nyuma yangu wananifuatia. Na nimefanya haraka kukujia, Mola wangu Mlezi, ili uridhike.
*He said, ‘They are close upon my heels, and I hurried on to You, my Lord, that You may be pleased.’
20:85
قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ
*(Mwenyezi Mungu) akasema: Sisi tumewatia mtihani watu wako baada yako, na Msamaria amewapoteza.
*He said, ‘Indeed We tried your people in your absence, and the Samiri has led them astray.’
20:86
فَرَجَعَ مُوسَىٰ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا ۚ أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدْتُمْ أَنْ يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُمْ مَوْعِدِي
*Musa akarudi kwa watu wake kwa ghadhabu na kusikitika. Akasema: Enyi watu wangu! Kwani Mola wenu Mlezi hakukuahidini ahadi nzuri? Je, umekuwa muda mrefu kwenu au mmetaka ikushukieni ghadhabu ya Mola wenu Mlezi, ndio maana mkavunja miadi yangu?
*Thereupon Moses returned to his people, indignant and grieved. He said, ‘O my people! Did your Lord not give you a true promise? Did the period [of my absence] seem too long to you? Or did you desire that your Lord’s wrath should descend on you and so you failed your tryst with me?’
20:87
قَالُوا مَا أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَا أَوْزَارًا مِنْ زِينَةِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَاهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ
*Wakasema: Sisi hatukuvunja miadi yako kwa khiari yetu, lakini tulibebeshwa mizigo ya mapambo ya watu, basi tukaitupa. Na hivyo ndivyo alivyo toa shauri Msamaria.
*They said, ‘We did not fail our tryst with you of our own accord, but we were laden with the weight of those people’s ornaments, and we cast them [into the fire] and so did the Samiri.’
20:88
فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَهُ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوا هَٰذَا إِلَٰهُكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِيَ
*Na akawaundia ndama, kiwiliwili chenye sauti. Na wakasema: Huyu ndiye mungu wenu, na mungu wa Musa, lakini alisahau.
*Then he produced for them a calf—a [lifeless] body with a low—and they said, This is your god and the god of Moses, so he forgot!
20:89
أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا
*Je! Hawakuona kuwa hakuwarudishia neno, wala hakuweza kuwadhuru wala kuwafaa?
*Did they not see that it did not answer them, nor could it bring them any benefit or harm?
20:90
وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَارُونُ مِنْ قَبْلُ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهِ ۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ فَاتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُوا أَمْرِي
*Na hakika Harun alikwisha waambia kabla yake: Enyi watu wangu! Hakika nyinyi mmetiwa mtihanini tu kwa kitu hiki. Na kwa yakini Mola wenu Mlezi ni Arrahmani, Mwingi wa Rehema. Basi nifuateni mimi, na t´iini amri yangu!
*Aaron had certainly told them earlier, ‘O my people! You are only being tested by it. Indeed your Lord is the All-beneficent. So follow me and obey my command!’
20:91
قَالُوا لَنْ نَبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ
*Wakasema: Hatutaacha kumuabudu mpaka Musa atapo rejea kwetu.
*They had said, ‘We will keep on clinging to it until Moses returns to us.’
20:92
قَالَ يَا هَارُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا
*(Musa) akasema: Ewe Harun! Ni nini kilicho kuzuia, ulipo waona wamepotea,
*He said, ‘O Aaron! What kept you, when you saw them going astray,
20:93
أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِ ۖ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِي
*Hata usinifuate? Je, umeasi amri yangu?
*from following me? Did you disobey my command?’
20:94
قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِي وَلَا بِرَأْسِي ۖ إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِي
*Akasema: Ewe mwana wa mama yangu! Usinishike ndevu zangu, wala kichwa changu. Kwa hakika naliogopa usije sema: Umewafarikisha Wana wa Israil, na hukungojea kauli yangu.
*He said, ‘O son of my mother! Do not grab my beard or my head! I feared lest you should say, ‘‘You have caused a rift among the Children of Israel and did not heed my word [of advice].’’’
20:95
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَا سَامِرِيُّ
*(Musa) akasema: Ewe Msamaria! Unataka nini ?
*He said, ‘What is your business, O Samiri?’
20:96
قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوا بِهِ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِنْ أَثَرِ الرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِي نَفْسِي
*Akasema: Niliona wasiyo yaona wao, nikashika gao katika unyao wa Mtume. Kisha nikalitupa. Na hivi ndivyo ilivyo nielekeza nafsi yangu.
*He said, ‘I saw what they did not see. I took a handful [of dust] from the messenger’s trail and threw it. That is how my soul prompted me.’
20:97
قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ أَنْ تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَنْ تُخْلَفَهُ ۖ وَانْظُرْ إِلَىٰ إِلَٰهِكَ الَّذِي ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا ۖ لَنُحَرِّقَنَّهُ ثُمَّ لَنَنْسِفَنَّهُ فِي الْيَمِّ نَسْفًا
*(Musa) akasema: Basi ondoka! Na kwa yakini utakuwa katika maisha ukisema: Usiniguse. Na hakika una ahadi kwako isiyo vunjwa. Na mtazame huyo mungu wako uliye endelea kumuabudu - Sisi kwa hakika tutamchoma moto, kisha tutamtawanya baharini atawanyike.
*He said, ‘Begone! It shall be your [lot] throughout life to say, ‘‘Do not touch me!’’ Indeed, there is a tryst for you which you will not fail to keep! Now look at your god to whom you went on clinging. We will burn it down and then scatter it[s ashes] into the sea.
20:98
إِنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا
*Hakika Mungu wenu ni Allah, Mwenyezi Mungu, tu. Hapana Mungu isipo kuwa Yeye. Ujuzi wake umeenea kila kitu.
*Indeed your God is Allah. There is no god except Him. He embraces all things in [His] knowledge.’
20:99
كَذَٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ ۚ وَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ مِنْ لَدُنَّا ذِكْرًا
*Namna hivi tunakuhadithia katika khabari za yaliyo tangulia. Na hakika tumekuletea kutoka kwetu mawaidha ya kukumbukwa.
*Thus do We relate to you some accounts of what is past. Certainly, We have given you a Reminder from Ourselves.
20:100
مَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وِزْرًا
*Atakaye jitenga nayo, basi kwa yakini Siku ya Kiyama atabeba mzigo.
*Whoever disregards it shall bear a burden [of punishment] on the Day of Resurrection,
20:101
خَالِدِينَ فِيهِ ۖ وَسَاءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حِمْلًا
*Wadumu humo. Na ni mzigo muovu kwao kuubeba Siku ya Kiyama!
*remaining in it [forever]. Evil is their burden on the Day of Resurrection
20:102
يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا
*Siku litakapo pulizwa barugumu, na tukawakusanya wakhalifu Siku hiyo, hali macho yao ya kibuluu.
*—the day the Trumpet will be blown; on that day We shall muster the guilty with blind eyes.
20:103
يَتَخَافَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنْ لَبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًا
*Watanong´onezana wao kwa wao: Hamkukaa ila siku kumi tu.
*They will whisper to one another: ‘You have stayed only for ten [days].’
20:104
نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً إِنْ لَبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا يَوْمًا
*Sisi tunajua zaidi watakayo yasema, atakapo sema mbora wao katika mwendo: Nyinyi hamkukaa ila siku moja tu.
*We know best what they will say, when the smartest of them in approach will say, ‘You stayed only a day!’
20:105
وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنْسِفُهَا رَبِّي نَسْفًا
*Na wanakuuliza khabari za milima. Waambie: Mola wangu Mlezi ataivuruga vuruga.
*They question you concerning the mountains. Say, ‘My Lord will scatter them [like dust].’
20:106
فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعًا صَفْصَفًا
*Na ataiacha tambarare, uwanda.
*Then He will leave it a level plain.
20:107
لَا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجًا وَلَا أَمْتًا
*Hutaona humo mdidimio wala muinuko.
*You will not see any crookedness or unevenness in it.
20:108
يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ الدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُ ۖ وَخَشَعَتِ الْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا
*Siku hiyo watamfuata muitaji asiye na upotofu. Na sauti zote zitamnyenyekea Arrahmani Mwingi wa Rahema. Basi husikii ila mchakato na mnong´ono.
*On that day they will follow the summoner without zigzagging. Their voices will be muted before the All-beneficent, and you will hear nothing but a murmur.
20:109
يَوْمَئِذٍ لَا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُ قَوْلًا
*Siku hiyo uombezi haufai kitu, ila wa aliye mruhusu Arrahmani Mwingi wa Rehema na akamridhia kusema.
*Intercession will not avail that day except from him whom the All-beneficent allows and approves of his word.
20:110
يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِ عِلْمًا
*Yeye anajua yaliyo mbele yao, na yaliyo nyuma yao. Wala wao hawawezi kumjua Yeye vilivyo.
*He knows what is before them and behind them, though they do not comprehend Him in their knowledge.
20:111
وَعَنَتِ الْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّومِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًا
*Na zitadhalilika nyuso mbele ya Aliye Hai Milele, Mwangalizi Mkuu. Na atakuwa ameharibikiwa mwenye kubeba dhulma.
*All faces shall be humbled before the Living One, the All-sustainer, and those who bear [the burden of] wrongdoing will fail.
20:112
وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْمًا وَلَا هَضْمًا
*Na anaye tenda mema, naye ni Muumini, basi hatakhofu kudhulumiwa wala kupunjwa.
*But whoever does righteous deeds, being faithful, will neither fear any injustice or disparagement.
20:113
وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًا
*Na namna hivi tumeiteremsha Qur´ani kwa Kiarabu, na tumekariri humo maonyo ili wapate kuogopa na kujilinda na iwaletee makumbusho.
*Thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran and We have paraphrased the warnings in it variously so that they may be Godwary, or it may prompt them to remembrance.
20:114
فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ ۗ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يُقْضَىٰ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ ۖ وَقُلْ رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
*Ametukuka Mwenyezi Mungu, Mfalme wa Haki. Wala usiifanyie haraka hii Qur´ani, kabla haujamalizika ufunuo wake. Na sema: Mola wangu Mlezi! Nizidishie ilimu.
*So exalted is Allah, the True Sovereign. Do not hasten with the Quran before its revelation is completed for you, and say, ‘My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.’
20:115
وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَا إِلَىٰ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْمًا
*Na hapo zamani tuliagana na Adam, lakini alisahau, wala hatukuona kwake azma kubwa.
*Certainly We had enjoined Adam earlier; but he forgot, and We did not find any resoluteness in him.
20:116
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ
*Na tulipo waambia Malaika: Msujudieni Adam! Wakasujudu, isipo kuwa Iblisi, alikataa.
*When We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate before Adam,’ they prostrated, but not Iblis: he refused.
20:117
فَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا عَدُوٌّ لَكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْقَىٰ
*Tukasema: Ewe Adam! Hakika huyu ni adui yako na wa mkeo. Basi asikutoeni katika Bustani hii, mkaingia mashakani.
*We said, ‘O Adam! This is indeed an enemy of yours and your mate’s. So do not let him expel you from paradise, or you will be miserable.
20:118
إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَىٰ
*Hakika humo hutakuwa na njaa wala hutakuwa uchi.
*You will neither be hungry in it nor naked.
20:119
وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَأُ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَىٰ
*Na hakika hutapata kiu humo wala hutapata joto.
*You will neither be thirsty in it, nor suffer from [the heat of] the sun.’
20:120
فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ يَا آدَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ الْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ لَا يَبْلَىٰ
*Lakini Shet´ani alimtia wasiwasi, akamwambia: Ewe Adam! Nikujuulishe mti wa kuishi milele na ufalme usio koma?
*Then Satan tempted him. He said, ‘O Adam! Shall I show you the tree of immortality, and an imperishable kingdom?’
20:121
فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْآتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰ آدَمُ رَبَّهُ فَغَوَىٰ
*Basi wakaula wote wawili, na uchi wao ukawadhihirikia na wakaanza kujibandika majani ya Bustani. Na Adam akamuasi Mola wake Mlezi, na akapotea njia.
*So they both ate of it, and their nakedness became evident to them, and they began to stitch over themselves with the leaves of paradise. Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went amiss.
20:122
ثُمَّ اجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَىٰ
*Kisha Mola wake Mlezi akamteuwa, naye akamkubalia toba yake, naye akamwongoa.
*Then his Lord chose him, and turned to him clemently, and guided him.
20:123
قَالَ اهْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا ۖ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۖ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ مِنِّي هُدًى فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ
*Akasema: Ondokeni humu nyote, hali ya kuwa ni maadui nyinyi kwa nyinyi. Na ukikufikieni uwongofu kutoka kwangu basi atakaye ufuata uwongofu wangu, hatapotea wala hatataabika.
*He said, ‘Get down both of you from it, all together, being enemies of one another! Yet, should any guidance come to you from Me, those who follow My guidance will not go astray, nor will they be miserable.
20:124
وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَىٰ
*Na atakaye jiepusha na mawaidha yangu, basi kwa yakini atapata maisha yenye dhiki, na Siku ya Kiyama tutamfufua hali ya kuwa kipofu.
*But whoever disregards My remembrance, his shall be a wretched life, and We shall raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection.’
20:125
قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَنِي أَعْمَىٰ وَقَدْ كُنْتُ بَصِيرًا
*Aseme: Ewe Mola wangu Mlezi! Mbona umenifufua kipofu, nami nilikuwa nikiona?
*He will say, ‘My Lord! Why have You raised me blind, though I used to see?’
20:126
قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتْكَ آيَاتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَا ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمَ تُنْسَىٰ
*(Mwenyezi Mungu) atasema: Ndivyo vivyo hivyo. Zilikufikia ishara zetu, nawe ukazisahau; na kadhaalika leo unasahauliwa.
*He will say: ‘So it is. Our signs came to you, but you forgot them, and so you will be forgotten today.’
20:127
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِ ۚ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَىٰ
*Na hivi ndivyo tutakavyo mlipa kila apitaye kiasi, na asiye amini ishara za Mola wake Mlezi. Na hakika adhabu ya Akhera ni kali zaidi, na inadumu zaidi.
*Thus do We requite those who transgress and do not believe in the signs of their Lord, and the punishment of the Hereafter is severer and more lasting.
20:128
أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِي مَسَاكِنِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي النُّهَىٰ
*Je! Haikuwabainikia tu; vizazi vingapi tuliviangamiza kabla yao, nao wanatembea katika maskani zao? Hakika katika hayo zimo ishara kwa wenye akili.
*Does it not dawn upon them how many generations We have destroyed before them, amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk? There are indeed signs in this for those who have reason.
20:129
وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامًا وَأَجَلٌ مُسَمًّى
*Na lau kuwa si neno lililo kwisha tangulia kutoka kwa Mola wako Mlezi na muda ulio wekwa, bila ya shaka inge fika adhabu (hapa hapa).
*Were it not for a prior decree of your Lord and a specified time, [their doom] would have attended [their guilt].
20:130
فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا ۖ وَمِنْ آنَاءِ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْرَافَ النَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْضَىٰ
*Yavumilie haya wayasemayo. Na umtakase Mola wako Mlezi kwa kumsifu kabla ya kuchomoza jua, na kabla halijachwa, na nyakati za usiku pia umtakase, na ncha za mchana ili upate ya kukuridhisha.
*So be patient with what they say, and celebrate the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the sunset, and glorify Him in watches of the night and at the day’s ends, that you may be pleased.
20:131
وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ
*Wala usivikodolee macho tulivyo wastareheshea baadhi ya watu miongoni mwao, kwa ajili ya mapambo ya duniani, ili tuwajaribu. Na riziki ya Mola wako Mlezi ni bora na inadumu zaidi.
*Do not extend your glance toward what We have provided certain groups of them as a glitter of the life of this world, so that We may test them thereby. The provision of your Lord is better and more lasting.
20:132
وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا ۖ لَا نَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقًا ۖ نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ ۗ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ
*Na waamrishe watu wako kusali, na uendelee mwenyewe kwa hayo. Sisi hatukuombi wewe riziki, bali Sisi ndio tunakuruzuku. Na mwisho mwema ni kwa mchamngu.
*And bid your family to prayer and be steadfast in maintaining it. We do not ask any provision of you: it is We who provide for you, and to Godwariness belongs the ultimate outcome [in the Hereafter].
20:133
وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا يَأْتِينَا بِآيَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ ۚ أَوَلَمْ تَأْتِهِمْ بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ
*Na walisema: Kwa nini hakutuletea muujiza kutoka kwa Mola wake Mlezi? Je! Haikuwafikilia dalili wazi ya yaliyomo katika Vitabu vya kale?
*They say, ‘Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?’ Has there not come to them a clear proof in that which is in the former scriptures?
20:134
وَلَوْ أَنَّا أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ لَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا لَوْلَا أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًا فَنَتَّبِعَ آيَاتِكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَذِلَّ وَنَخْزَىٰ
*Na lau kuwa tuliwaangamiza kwa adhabu kabla yake, wangeli sema: Ewe Mola wetu Mlezi! Kwa nini usituletee Mtume tukazifuata ishara zako kabla hatujadhilika na kuhizika.
*Had We destroyed them with a punishment before it, they would have surely said, ‘Our Lord! Why did You not send us an apostle so that we might have followed Your signs before we were abased and disgraced?’
20:135
قُلْ كُلٌّ مُتَرَبِّصٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَصْحَابُ الصِّرَاطِ السَّوِيِّ وَمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ
*Sema: Kila mmoja anangoja. Basi ngojeni! Hivi karibuni mtajua nani mwenye njia sawa na nani aliye ongoka.
*Say, ‘Everyone [of us] is waiting. So wait! Soon you will know who are the people of the right path, and who is [rightly] guided.’
