Sura 53 - An-Najm

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Kwa Jina La Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwingi Wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu.
53:1
وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ
*Naapa kwa nyota inapo tua,
*By the star when it sets:
53:2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ
*Mwenzenu huyu hakupotea, wala hakukosea.
*your companion has neither gone astray, nor amiss.
53:3
وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ
*Wala hatamki kwa matamanio.
*Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire:
53:4
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ
*Hayakuwa haya ila ni ufunuo ulio funuliwa;
*it is just a revelation that is revealed [to him],
53:5
عَلَّمَهُ شَدِيدُ الْقُوَىٰ
*Amemfundisha aliye mwingi wa nguvu,
*taught him by one of great powers,
53:6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ
*Mwenye kutua, akatulia,
*possessed of sound judgement. He settled,
53:7
وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ
*Naye yuko juu kabisa upeo wa macho.
*while he was on the highest horizon.
53:8
ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ
*Kisha akakaribia na akateremka.
*Then he drew nearer and nearer
53:9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
*Akawa ni kama baina ya mipinde miwili, au karibu zaidi.
*until he was within two bows’ length or even nearer,
53:10
فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ
*Akamfunulia mja wake (Mwenyezi Mungu) alicho mfunulia.
*whereat He revealed to His servant whatever He revealed.
53:11
مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ
*Moyo haukusema uwongo uliyo yaona.
*The heart did not deny what it saw.
53:12
أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ
*Je! Mnabishana naye kwa aliyo yaona?
*Will you then dispute with him about what he saw?!
53:13
وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ
*Na akamwona mara nyingine,
*Certainly he saw it yet another time,
53:14
عِنْدَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَىٰ
*Penye Mkunazi wa mwisho.
*by the Lote Tree of the Ultimate Boundary,
53:15
عِنْدَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ
*Karibu yake ndiyo ipo Bustani inayo kaliwa.
*near which is the Garden of the Abode,
53:16
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ
*Kilipo ufunika huo Mkunazi hicho kilicho ufunuika.
*when there covered the Lote Tree what covered it.
53:17
مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ
*Jicho halikuhangaika wala halikuruka mpaka.
*His gaze did not swerve, nor did it overstep the bounds.
53:18
لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ
*Kwa yakini aliona katika Ishara kubwa kabisa za Mola wake Mlezi.
*Certainly he saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord.
53:19
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّىٰ
*Je! Mmemuona Lata na Uzza?
*Have you considered Lat and ‘Uzza?
53:20
وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ
*Na Manaat, mwingine wa tatu?
*and Manat, the third one?
53:21
أَلَكُمُ الذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ الْأُنْثَىٰ
*Je! Nyinyi mnao wana wanaume na Yeye ndio awe na wanawake?
*Are you to have males and He females?
53:22
تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰ
*Huo ni mgawanyo wa dhulma!
*That, then, will be an unfair division!
53:23
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا أَسْمَاءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمْ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۚ إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى الْأَنْفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنْ رَبِّهِمُ الْهُدَىٰ
*Hayo hayakuwa ila ni majina mliyo wapa nyinyi na baba zenu. Mwenyezi Mungu hakuleta uthibitisho wowote juu ya hayo. Hawafuati ila dhana tu na kipendacho nafsi. Na kwa yakini uwongofu ulikwisha wafikia kutoka kwa Mola wao Mlezi.
*These are but names, which you have coined—you and your fathers—for which Allah has not sent down any authority. They follow nothing but conjectures and the desires of the [lower] soul, while there has already come to them the guidance from their Lord.
53:24
أَمْ لِلْإِنْسَانِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
*Ati mtu anakipata kila anacho kitamani?
*Shall man have whatever he yearns for?
53:25
فَلِلَّهِ الْآخِرَةُ وَالْأُولَىٰ
*Mwenyezi Mungu tu ndiye Mwenye dunia na Akhera.
*Yet to Allah belong this world and the Hereafter.
53:26
وَكَمْ مِنْ مَلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ لَا تُغْنِي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ أَنْ يَأْذَنَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَرْضَىٰ
*Na wako Malaika wangapi mbinguni, ambao uombezi wao hautafaa chochote isipo kuwa baada ya Mwenyezi Mungu kutoa idhini kwa amtakaye na kumridhia.
*How many an angel there is in the heavens whose intercession is of not any avail, except after Allah permits whomever He wishes and approves of!
53:27
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ الْأُنْثَىٰ
*Hakika wasio amini Akhera bila ya shaka wao ndio wanawaita Malaika kwa majina ya kike.
*Indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter give female names to the angels.
53:28
وَمَا لَهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ شَيْئًا
*Nao hawana ujuzi wowote kwa hayo isipo kuwa wanafuata dhana tu. Na dhana haisaidii chochote mbele ya haki.
*They do not have any knowledge of that. They follow nothing but conjectures, and conjecture is no substitute for the truth.
53:29
فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْ مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
*Basi mwachilie mbali anaye upa kisogo ukumbusho wetu, na wala hataki ila maisha ya dunia.
*So avoid those who turn away from Our remembrance and desire nothing but the life of the world.
53:30
ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ
*Huo ndio mwisho wao wa ujuzi. Hakika Mola wako Mlezi ndiye anaye mjua zaidi mwenye kuipotea njia yake, na Yeye ndiye anaye mjua zaidi mwenye kuongoka.
*That is the ultimate reach of their knowledge. Indeed your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are [rightly] guided.
53:31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى
*Ni vya Mwenyezi Mungu vyote viliomo mbinguni na viliomo katika ardhi, ili awalipe walio tenda ubaya kwa waliyo yatenda, na walio tenda mema awalipe mema.
*To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that He may requite those who do evil for what they have done, and reward those who do good with the best [of rewards].
53:32
الَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ إِلَّا اللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَاسِعُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنْشَأَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنْتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ
*Ambao wanajiepusha na madhambi makuu na vitendo vichafu, isipo kuwa makosa khafifu. Hakika Mola wako Mlezi ni Mkunjufu wa maghfira, naye anakujueni sana tangu alipo kuumbeni kutoka kwenye ardhi, na mlipo kuwa mimba matumboni mwa mama zenu. Basi msijisifu usafi. Yeye anamjua sana mwenye kujikinga na maovu.
*Those who avoid major sins and indecencies, apart from [minor and occasional] lapses. Indeed your Lord is expansive in [His] forgiveness. He knows you best since [the time] He produced you from the earth and since you were foetuses in the bellies of your mothers. So do not flaunt your piety: He knows best those who are Godwary.
53:33
أَفَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰ
*Je! Umemwona yule aliye geuka?
*Did you see him who turned away,
53:34
وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰ
*Na akatoa kidogo, kisha akajizuia?
*gave a little and held off?
53:35
أَعِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ الْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰ
*Je! Anayo huyo ilimu ya ghaibu, basi ndio anaona?
*Does he have the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees?
53:36
أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ
*Au hakuambiwa yaliyomo katika Vitabu vya Musa?
*Has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Moses,
53:37
وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّىٰ
*Na vya Ibrahimu aliye timiza ahadi?
*and of Abraham, who fulfilled [his summons]:
53:38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ
*Ya kwamba hakika nafsi iliyo beba madhambi haibebi madhambi ya mwengine?
*that no bearer shall bear another’s burden,
53:39
وَأَنْ لَيْسَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
*Na ya kwamba hatapata mtu ila aliyo yafanya mwenyewe?
*that nothing belongs to man except what he strives for,
53:40
وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ
*Na kwamba vitendo vyake vitaonekana?
*and that he will soon be shown his endeavour,
53:41
ثُمَّ يُجْزَاهُ الْجَزَاءَ الْأَوْفَىٰ
*Kisha ndio atalipwa malipo yake kwa ukamilifu.
*then he will be rewarded for it with the fullest reward;
53:42
وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الْمُنْتَهَىٰ
*Na kwamba kwao Mola wako Mlezi ndio mwisho.
*that the terminus is toward your Lord,
53:43
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ
*Na kwamba Yeye ndiye anaye leta kicheko na kilio.
*that it is He who makes [men] laugh, and weep,
53:44
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا
*Na kwamba Yeye ndiye anaye fisha na kuhuisha.
*that it is He who brings death and gives life,
53:45
وَأَنَّهُ خَلَقَ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ
*Na kwamba Yeye ndiye aliye umba jozi, dume na jike
*that it is He who created the mates, the male and the female,
53:46
مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ
*Kutokana na mbegu ya uzazi inapo miminwa.
*from a drop of [seminal] fluid when emitted;
53:47
وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ
*Na kwamba ni juu yake ufufuo mwengine.
*that with Him lies the second genesis,
53:48
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ
*Na kwamba ni Yeye ndiye anaye tosheleza na kukinaisha.
*that it is He who enriches and grants possessions,
53:49
وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ رَبُّ الشِّعْرَىٰ
*Na kwamba hakika Yeye ndiye Mola Mlezi wa nyota ya Shii´ra.
*that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius;
53:50
وَأَنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا الْأُولَىٰ
*Na kwamba Yeye ndiye aliye waangamiza A´di wa kwanza,
*that it is He who destroyed the former ‘Ad,
53:51
وَثَمُودَ فَمَا أَبْقَىٰ
*Na Thamudi hakuwabakisha,
*and Thamud, sparing none [of them];
53:52
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ
*Na kabla yao kaumu ya Nuhu. Na hao hakika walikuwa ni madhaalimu zaidi, na waovu zaidi;
*and the people of Noah before that; indeed they were more unjust and rebellious;
53:53
وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ
*Na miji iliyo pinduliwa, ni Yeye aliye ipindua.
*and He overthrew the town that was overturned,
53:54
فَغَشَّاهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ
*Vikaifunika vilivyo funika.
*covering it with what covered it.
53:55
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ
*Basi neema gani ya Mola wako Mlezi unayo ifanyia shaka?
*Then which of the bounties of your Lord will you dispute?
53:56
هَٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الْأُولَىٰ
*Hili ni Onyo katika maonyo yale yale ya zamani.
*This is a warner, [in the tradition] of the warners of old.
53:57
أَزِفَتِ الْآزِفَةُ
*Kiyama kimekaribia!
*The Imminent [Hour] is near at hand.
53:58
لَيْسَ لَهَا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ
*Hapana wa kukifichua isipo kuwa Mwenyezi Mungu.
*There is none who may unveil it besides Allah.
53:59
أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ
*Je! Mnayastaajabia maneno haya?
*Will you then wonder at this discourse,
53:60
وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ
*Na mnacheka, wala hamlii?
*and laugh and not weep,
53:61
وَأَنْتُمْ سَامِدُونَ
*Nanyi mmeghafilika?
*while you remain heedless?!
53:62
فَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُوا ۩  ***Wajib Sajda***
*Basi msujudieni Mwenyezi Mungu, na mumuabudu.
*So prostrate yourselves to Allah and worship Him!
