Sura 74 - Al-Muddaththir

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Kwa Jina La Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwingi Wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu.
74:1
يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ
*Ewe uliye jigubika!
*O you wrapped up in your mantle!
74:2
قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ
*Simama uonye!
*Rise up and warn!
74:3
وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ
*Na Mola wako Mlezi mtukuze!
*Magnify your Lord,
74:4
وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ
*Na nguo zako, zisafishe.
*and purify your clothes,
74:5
وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ
*Na yaliyo machafu yahame!
*and keep away from all impurity!
74:6
وَلَا تَمْنُنْ تَسْتَكْثِرُ
*Wala usitoe kwa kutaraji kuzidishiwa.
*Do not grant a favour seeking a greater gain,
74:7
وَلِرَبِّكَ فَاصْبِرْ
*Na kwa ajili ya Mola wako Mlezi, subiri!
*and be patient for the sake of your Lord.
74:8
فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ
*Basi litapo pulizwa barugumu,
*When the Trumpet will be sounded,
74:9
فَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ
*Siku hiyo, basi, itakuwa siku ngumu.
*that will be a day of hardship,
74:10
عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ
*Kwa makafiri haitakuwa nyepesi.
*not at all easy for the faithless.
74:11
ذَرْنِي وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا
*Niache peke yangu na niliye muumba;
*Leave Me [to deal] with him whom I created alone,
74:12
وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ مَالًا مَمْدُودًا
*Na nikamjaalia awe na mali mengi,
*and furnished him with extensive means,
74:13
وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا
*Na wana wanao onekana,
*[gave him] sons to be at his side,
74:14
وَمَهَّدْتُ لَهُ تَمْهِيدًا
*Na nikamtgenezea mambo vizuri kabisa.
*and facilitated [all matters] for him.
74:15
ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ
*Kisha anatumai nimzidishie!
*Still he is eager that I should give him more.
74:16
كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ لِآيَاتِنَا عَنِيدًا
*Hasha! Kwani hakika yeye alikuwa akizifanyia inadi Aya zetu!
*No indeed! He is an obstinate opponent of Our signs.
74:17
سَأُرْهِقُهُ صَعُودًا
*Nitamtesa kwa mateso yasio wezekana.
*Soon I will overwhelm him with hardship.
74:18
إِنَّهُ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ
*Kwani hakika yeye alifikiri na akapima.
*Indeed he reflected and decided.
74:19
فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ
*Basi ameangamia! Vipi alivyo pima!
*Perish he, how he decided!
74:20
ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ
*Tena ameangamia! Vipi alivyo pima!
*Again, perish he, how he decided!
74:21
ثُمَّ نَظَرَ
*Kisha akatazama,
*Then he looked;
74:22
ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ
*Kisha akakunja kipaji, na akanuna.
*then frowned and scowled.
74:23
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ
*Kisha akaipa kisogo haki, na akatakabari.
*Then he walked away disdainfully,
74:24
فَقَالَ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ
*Na akasema: Haya si chochote ila ni uchawi ulio nukuliwa.
*saying, ‘It is nothing but traditional sorcery.
74:25
إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا قَوْلُ الْبَشَرِ
*Haya si chochote ila kauli ya binaadamu.
*It is nothing but the speech of a human.’
74:26
سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ
*Nitakuja mtia kwenye Moto wa Saqar.
*Soon I will cast him into Saqar.
74:27
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سَقَرُ
*Na nini kitakujuulisha ni nini huo Moto wa Saqar?
*And what will show you what is Saqar?
74:28
لَا تُبْقِي وَلَا تَذَرُ
*Haubakishi wala hausazi.
*It neither spares, nor leaves [anything].
74:29
لَوَّاحَةٌ لِلْبَشَرِ
*Unababua ngozi iwe nyeusi.
*It burns the skin.
74:30
عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ
*Juu yake wapo kumi na tisa.
*There are nineteen [keepers] over it.
74:31
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَائِكَةً ۙ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِيمَانًا ۙ وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ وَلِيَقُولَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْبَشَرِ
*Na hatukuwafanya walinzi wa Motoni ila ni Malaika, wala hatukuifanya idadi yao hiyo ila kuwatatanisha walio kufuru, wapate kuwa na yakini walio pewa Kitabu, na wazidi Imani wale walio amini, wala wasiwe na shaka walio pewa Kitabu na Waumini, na wapate kusema wenye maradhi katika nyoyo zao na makafiri: Mwenyezi Mungu amekusudia nini kwa mfano huu? Ndio kama hivyo Mwenyezi Mungu humwacha apotee amtakaye, na humwongoa amtakaye. Na hapana yeyote anaye jua majeshi ya Mola wako Mlezi ila Yeye tu. Na haya si chochote ila ni ukumbusho kwa binaadamu.
*We have assigned only angels as keepers of the Fire, and We have made their number merely a stumbling block for the faithless, and so that those who were given the Book may be reassured, and the faithful may increase in [their] faith, and so that those who were given the Book and the faithful may not be in doubt, and so that the faithless and those in whose hearts is a sickness may say, ‘What did Allah mean by this description?’ Thus does Allah lead astray whomever He wishes and guides whomever He wishes. No one knows the hosts of your Lord except Him, and it is just an admonition for all humans.
74:32
كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِ
*Hasha! Naapa kwa mwezi!
*No indeed! By the Moon!
74:33
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ
*Na kwa usiku unapo kucha!
*By the night when it recedes!
74:34
وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا أَسْفَرَ
*Na kwa asubuhi inapo pambazuka!
*By the dawn when it brightens!
74:35
إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى الْكُبَرِ
*Hakika huo Moto ni katika mambo yaliyo makubwa kabisa!
*Indeed they are one of the greatest [signs of God]
74:36
نَذِيرًا لِلْبَشَرِ
*Ni onyo kwa binaadamu,
*—a warner to all humans,
74:37
لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ
*Kwa anaye taka miongoni mwenu kutangulia au kuchelewa.
*[alike] for those of you who like to advance ahead and those who would remain behind.
74:38
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ
*Kila nafsi imo rahanini kwa mabaya iliyo yachuma.
*Every soul is hostage to what it has earned,
74:39
إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِ
*Isipo kuwa watu wa kuliani.
*except the People of the Right Hand.
74:40
فِي جَنَّاتٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
*Hao watakuwa katika Mabustani, wawe wanaulizana
*[They will be] in gardens, questioning
74:41
عَنِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
*Khabari za wakosefu:
*the guilty:
74:42
مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ
*Ni nini kilicho kupelekeni Motoni?
*‘What drew you into Hell?’
74:43
قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ
*Waseme: Hatukuwa miongoni walio kuwa wakisali.
*They will answer, ‘We were not among those who prayed.
74:44
وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ
*Wala hatukuwa tukiwalisha masikini.
*Nor did we feed the poor.
74:45
وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ الْخَائِضِينَ
*Na tulikuwa tukizama pamoja na walio zama katika maovu.
*We used to indulge in [profane] gossip along with the gossipers,
74:46
وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
*Na tulikuwa tukiikanusha siku ya malipo.
*and we used to deny the Day of Retribution
74:47
حَتَّىٰ أَتَانَا الْيَقِينُ
*Mpaka yakini ilipo tufikia.
*until death came to us.’
74:48
فَمَا تَنْفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِينَ
*Basi hautawafaa kitu uombezi wa waombezi.
*So the intercession of the intercessors will not avail them.
74:49
فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ التَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ
*Basi wana nini hata wanapuuza onyo hili?
*What is the matter with them that they evade the Reminder
74:50
كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌ مُسْتَنْفِرَةٌ
*Kama kwamba wao ni mapunda walio timuliwa,
*as if they were terrified asses
74:51
فَرَّتْ مِنْ قَسْوَرَةٍ
*Wanao mkimbia simba!
*fleeing from a lion?
74:52
بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يُؤْتَىٰ صُحُفًا مُنَشَّرَةً
*Ati kila mmoja katika wao anataka apewe nyaraka zilizo funuliwa.
*But everyone of them desires to be given unrolled scriptures [from Allah]!
74:53
كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ لَا يَخَافُونَ الْآخِرَةَ
*Hasha! Kwani wao hawaiogopi Akhera?
*No! Indeed, they do not fear the Hereafter.
74:54
كَلَّا إِنَّهُ تَذْكِرَةٌ
*Hasha! Kwa hakika huu ni ukumbusho!
*No! It is indeed a reminder.
74:55
فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ
*Basi anaye taka atakumbuka.
*So let anyone who wishes be mindful of it.
74:56
وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ هُوَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَىٰ وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ
*Na hawatakumbuka isipo kuwa Mwenyezi Mungu atake. Uchamngu ni kwake Yeye, na msamaha ni wake Yeye.
*And they will not be mindful unless Allah wishes. He is worthy of [your] being wary [of Him] and He is worthy to forgive.
