Sura 5 - Al-Maaida

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Kwa Jina La Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwingi Wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu.
5:1
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَوْفُوا بِالْعُقُودِ ۚ أُحِلَّتْ لَكُمْ بَهِيمَةُ الْأَنْعَامِ إِلَّا مَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ غَيْرَ مُحِلِّي الصَّيْدِ وَأَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ مَا يُرِيدُ
*Enyi mlio amini! Timizeni ahadi. Mmehalalishiwa wanyama wa mifugo, ila wale mnao tajiwa. Lakini msihalalishe kuwinda nanyi mmo katika Hija. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu anahukumu apendavyo.
*O you who have faith! Keep your agreements. You are permitted animals of grazing livestock, except for what is now announced to you, disallowing game while you are in pilgrim sanctity. Indeed, God decrees whatever He desires.
5:2
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُحِلُّوا شَعَائِرَ اللَّهِ وَلَا الشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ وَلَا الْهَدْيَ وَلَا الْقَلَائِدَ وَلَا آمِّينَ الْبَيْتَ الْحَرَامَ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَرِضْوَانًا ۚ وَإِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَاصْطَادُوا ۚ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ أَنْ صَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ أَنْ تَعْتَدُوا ۘ وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
*Enyi mlio amini! Msivunje hishima ya alama ya Dini ya Mwenyezi Mungu wala mwezi mtakatifu, wala wanyama wanao pelekwa Makka kuchinjwa, wala vigwe vyao, wala wanao elekea kwendea Nyumba Takatifu, wakitafuta fadhila na radhi za Mola wao Mlezi. Na mkisha toka Hija yenu basi windeni. Wala kuwachukia watu kwa kuwa wali- kuzuilieni kufika Msikiti mtakatifu kusikupelekeeni kuwafanyia uadui. Na saidianeni katika wema na uchamngu. Wala msisaidiane katika dhambi na uadui. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkali wa kuadhibu.
*O you who have faith! Do not violate God’s sacraments, neither the sacred month, nor the offering, nor the necklaces, nor those bound for the Sacred House who seek their Lord’s bounty and His pleasure. But when you emerge from pilgrim sanctity you may hunt for game. Ill feeling for a people should not lead you, because they barred you from the Sacred Mosque, to transgress. Cooperate in piety and Godwariness, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression, and be wary of God. Indeed, God is severe in retribution.
5:3
حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ الْخِنْزِيرِ وَمَا أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ بِهِ وَالْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَالْمَوْقُوذَةُ وَالْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَالنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَا أَكَلَ السَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ وَأَنْ تَسْتَقْسِمُوا بِالْأَزْلَامِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌ ۗ الْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ دِينِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَاخْشَوْنِ ۚ الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا ۚ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِإِثْمٍ ۙ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
*Mmeharimishiwa nyamafu, na damu, na nyama ya nguruwe, na mnyama aliye chinjwa si kwa ajili ya Mwenyezi Mungu, na aliye kufa kwa kunyongeka koo, na aliye kufa kwa kupigwa, na aliye kufa kwa kuanguka, na aliye kufa kwa kupigwa pembe, aliye liwa na mnyama, ila mkimdiriki kumchinja. Na pia ni haramu kula nyama aliye chinjiwa masanamu. Na ni haramu kupiga ramli. Hayo yote ni upotovu. Leo walio kufuru wamekata tamaa na Dini yenu; basi msiwaogope, bali niogopeni Mimi. Leo nimekukamiliishieni Dini yenu, na nimekutimizieni neema yangu, na nimekupendeleeni UISLAMU uwe ndiyo Dini. Na mwenye kushurutishwa na njaa, bila ya kupendelea dhambi, basi hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Msamehevu na Mwenye kurehemu.
*You are prohibited carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been offered to other than God, and the animal strangled or beaten to death, and that which dies by falling or is gored to death, and that which is mangled by a beast of prey —barring that which you may purify— and what is sacrificed on stone altars to idols, and that you should divide by raffling with arrows. All that is transgression. Today the faithless have despaired of your religion. So do not fear them, but fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have approved Islam as your religion. But should anyone be compelled by hunger, without inclining to sin, then God is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful.
5:4
يَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ ۖ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ ۙ وَمَا عَلَّمْتُمْ مِنَ الْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ اللَّهُ ۖ فَكُلُوا مِمَّا أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ
*Wanakuuliza wamehalalishiwa nini? Sema: Mmehalalishiwa kila vilivyo vizuri na mlicho wafundisha wanyama kukiwinda. Mnawafundisha alivyo kufunzeni Mwenyezi Mungu. Basi kuleni walicho kukamatieni, na mkisomee jina la Mwenyezi Mungu. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu; hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwepesi wa kuhisabu.
*They ask you as to what is lawful for them. Say, ‘All the good things are lawful for you.’ As for what you have taught hunting dogs to catch, teaching them by what God has taught you, eat of what they catch for you and mention God’s Name over it, and be wary of God. God is indeed swift at reckoning.
5:5
الْيَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ ۖ وَطَعَامُ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَهُمْ ۖ وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ إِذَا آتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ مُحْصِنِينَ غَيْرَ مُسَافِحِينَ وَلَا مُتَّخِذِي أَخْدَانٍ ۗ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالْإِيمَانِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
*Leo mmehalalishiwa kila vilivyo vizuri. Na chakula cha walio pewa Kitabu ni halali kwenu, na chakula chenu ni halali kwao. Na pia wanawake wema miongoni mwa Waumini, na wanawake wema miongoni mwa walio pewa Kitabu kabla yenu, mtakapo wapa mahari yao, mkafunga nao ndoa, bila ya kufanya uhasharati wala kuwaweka kinyumba. Na anaye kataa kuamini bila shaka a´mali yake imepotea, naye katika Akhera atakuwa miongoni mwa wenye khasara.
*Today all the good things have been made lawful for you: —the food of those who were given the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them— and the chaste ones from among faithful women, and chaste women of those who were given the Book before you, when you have given them their dowries, in wedlock, not in license, nor taking paramours. Should anyone renounce his faith, his works shall fail and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter.
5:6
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوا بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ۚ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوا ۚ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضَىٰ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَاءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ مِنْهُ ۚ مَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَٰكِنْ يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Mnapo simama kwa ajili ya Sala basi osheni nyuso zenu, na mikono yenu mpaka vifundoni, na mpake vichwa vyenu, na osheni miguu yenu mpaka vifundoni. Na mkiwa na janaba basi ogeni. Na mkiwa wagonjwa au mmo safarini, au mmoja wenu ametoka chooni au mmewagusa wanawake, na hamkupata maji, basi tayamamuni vumbi lilio safi, na mpake nyuso zenu na mikono yenu. Hapendi Mwenyezi Mungu kukutieni katika taabu; bali anataka kukutakaseni na kutimiza neema yake juu yenu ili mpate kushukuru.
*O you who have faith! When you stand up for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe a part of your heads and your feet up to the ankles. If you are junub, purify yourselves. But if you are sick, or on a journey, or any of you has come from the toilet, or you have touched women, and you cannot find water, then make tayammum with clean ground and wipe a part of your faces and your hands with it. God does not desire to put you to hardship, but He desires to purify you and to complete His blessing upon you so that you may give thanks.
5:7
وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَاقَهُ الَّذِي وَاثَقَكُمْ بِهِ إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ
*Na kumbukeni neema ya Mwenyezi Mungu iliyo juu yenu, na ahadi yake aliyo fungamana nanyi mlipo sema: Tumesikia na tumet´ii. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mjuzi sana wa yaliyomo vifuani.
*Remember God’s blessing upon you and His covenant with which He has bound you, when you said, ‘We hear and obey.’ And be wary of God. Indeed, God knows well what is in the breasts.
5:8
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ لِلَّهِ شُهَدَاءَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ عَلَىٰ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا ۚ اعْدِلُوا هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Kuweni wasimamizi madhubuti kwa ajili ya Mwenyezi Mungu mkitoa ushahidi kwa haki. Wala kuchukiana na watu kusikupelekeeni kutofanya uadilifu. Fanyeni uadilifu. Hivyo ndio kuwa karibu mno na uchamngu. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu anazo khabari za mnayo yatenda.
*O you who have faith! Be maintainers of justice, as witnesses for God’s sake, and ill feeling for a people should never lead you to be unfair. Be fair; that is nearer to Godwariness, and be wary of God. God is indeed well aware of what you do.
5:9
وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ ۙ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
*Mwenyezi Mungu amewaahidi walio muamini na wakatenda mema kwamba watapata maghfira na malipo makubwa.
*God has promised those who have faith and do righteous deeds forgiveness and a great reward.
5:10
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ
*Na wale walio kufuru na wakakanusha Ishara zetu, hao ndio watu wa Motoni.
*As for those who are faithless and deny Our signs, they shall be the inmates of hell.
5:11
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ هَمَّ قَوْمٌ أَنْ يَبْسُطُوا إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنْكُمْ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Kumbukeni neema za Mwenyezi Mungu zilizo juu yenu, walipo taka watu kukunyooshieni mikono, naye akaizuilia mikono yao kukufikieni. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu. Na Waumini wamtegemee Mwenyezi Mungu tu.
*O you who have faith! Remember God’s blessing upon you when a people set out to extend their hands against you, but He withheld their hands from you, and be wary of God, and in God alone let all the faithful put their trust.
5:12
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ مِيثَاقَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَبَعَثْنَا مِنْهُمُ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ نَقِيبًا ۖ وَقَالَ اللَّهُ إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ أَقَمْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَآتَيْتُمُ الزَّكَاةَ وَآمَنْتُمْ بِرُسُلِي وَعَزَّرْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَقْرَضْتُمُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا لَأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ فَمَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَاءَ السَّبِيلِ
*Na Mwenyezi Mungu alifanya agano na Wana wa Israili. Na tukawateulia kutokana nao wakuu kumi na mbili. Na Mwenyezi Mungu akasema: Kwa yakini Mimi ni pamoja nanyi. Mkisali, na mkatoa Zaka, na mkawaamini Mitume wangu, na mkawasaidia, na mkamkopesha Mwenyezi Mungu mkopo mwema, hapana shaka nitakufutieni maovu yenu na nitakuingizeni katika mabustani yapitayo mito kati yake. Lakini atakaye kufuru miongoni mwenu baada ya hayo bila ya shaka atakuwa amepotea njia iliyo sawa.
*Certainly God took a pledge from the Children of Israel, and We raised among them twelve chiefs. And God said, ‘I am with you! Surely, if you maintain the prayer and give the zakāt and have faith in My apostles and support them and lend God a good loan, I will surely absolve you of your misdeeds, and I will surely admit you into gardens with streams running in them. But whoever of you disbelieves after that has certainly strayed from the right way.’
5:13
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِمْ مِيثَاقَهُمْ لَعَنَّاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا قُلُوبَهُمْ قَاسِيَةً ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ عَنْ مَوَاضِعِهِ ۙ وَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ ۚ وَلَا تَزَالُ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَىٰ خَائِنَةٍ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِنْهُمْ ۖ فَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَاصْفَحْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
*Basi kwa sababu ya kuvunja agano lao tuliwalaani, na tukazifanya nyoyo zao kuwa ngumu. Wanayabadilisha maneno kutoka pahala pake, na wamesahau sehemu ya yale waliyo kumbushwa. Na huachi kuvumbua khiana kutokana nao, isipo kuwa wachache miongoni mwao. Basi wasamehe na waache. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu huwapenda wafanyao wema.
*Then, because of their breaking their covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard: they pervert words from their meanings, and have forgotten a part of what they were reminded. You will not cease to learn of some of their treachery, excepting a few of them. Yet excuse them and forbear. Indeed, God loves the virtuous.
5:14
وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّا نَصَارَىٰ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَهُمْ فَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ وَسَوْفَ يُنَبِّئُهُمُ اللَّهُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُونَ
*Na kutoka kwa wale walio sema: Sisi ni Manasara, tulichukua ahadi yao, lakini wakasahau sehemu ya waliyo kumbushwa. Kwa hivyo tukaweka kati yao uadui na chuki mpaka Siku ya Kiyama. Na hapo Mwenyezi Mungu atawaambia waliyo kuwa wakiyafanya.
*Also from those who say, ‘We are Christians,’ We took their pledge; but they forgot a part of what they were reminded. So We stirred up enmity and hatred among them until the Day of Resurrection, and God will soon inform them concerning what they had been doing.
5:15
يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ كَثِيرًا مِمَّا كُنْتُمْ تُخْفُونَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَعْفُو عَنْ كَثِيرٍ ۚ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَابٌ مُبِينٌ
*Enyi Watu wa Kitabu! Amekwisha kujieni Mtume wetu anaye kufichulieni mengi mliyo kuwa mkiyaficha katika Kitabu, na anaye samehe mengi. Bila shaka imekujieni kutoka kwa Mwenyezi Mungu nuru na Kitabu kinacho bainisha.
*O People of the Book! Certainly Our Apostle has come to you, clarifying for you much of what you used to hide of the Book, and excusing many an offense of yours. Certainly there has come to you a light from God and a manifest Book.
5:16
يَهْدِي بِهِ اللَّهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَهُ سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ وَيُخْرِجُهُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
*Mwenyezi Mungu huwaongoa wenye kufuata radhi yake katika njia za salama, na huwatoa katika giza kuwapeleka kwenye nuru kwa amri yake, na huwaongoa kwenye njia iliyo nyooka.
*With it God guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace, and brings them out from darkness into light by His will, and guides them to a straight path.
5:17
لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قُلْ فَمَنْ يَمْلِكُ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُهْلِكَ الْمَسِيحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ۗ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
*Hakika wamekufuru walio sema: Mwenyezi Mungu ni Masihi mwana wa Maryamu. Sema: Ni nani mwenye kumiliki cho chote mbele ya Mwenyezi Mungu ikiwa Yeye angetaka kumuangamiza Masihi mwana wa Maryamu, na mama yake, na wote waliomo katika ardhi? Na mamlaka ya mbingu na ardhi na vilivyomo ndani yake ni vya Mwenyezi Mungu. Huumba apendavyo. Na Mwenyezi Mungu anao uweza juu ya kila kitu.
*They are certainly faithless who say, ‘God is the Messiah, son of Mary.’ Say, ‘Who can avail anything against God should He wish to destroy the Messiah, son of Mary, and his mother, and everyone upon the earth?’ To God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them. He creates whatever He wishes, and God has power over all things.
5:18
وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَاءُ اللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّاؤُهُ ۚ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُمْ بِذُنُوبِكُمْ ۖ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ بَشَرٌ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ
*Na Mayahudi na Wakristo wanasema: Sisi ni wana wa Mwenyezi Mungu na vipenzi vyake. Sema: Basi kwa nini anakuadhibuni kwa ajili ya dhambi zenu? Bali nyinyi ni watu tu kama wale wengine alio waumba. Humsamehe amtakaye na humuadhibu amtakaye. Na ni wa Mwenyezi Mungu tu ufalme wa mbingu na ardhi. Na marejeo ni kwake Yeye.
*The Jews and the Christians say, ‘We are God’s children and His beloved ones.’ Say, ‘Then why does He punish you for your sins?’ No, you are humans from among His creatures. He forgives whomever He wishes and punishes whomever He wishes, and to God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and toward Him is your return.
5:19
يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ قَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ عَلَىٰ فَتْرَةٍ مِنَ الرُّسُلِ أَنْ تَقُولُوا مَا جَاءَنَا مِنْ بَشِيرٍ وَلَا نَذِيرٍ ۖ فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ بَشِيرٌ وَنَذِيرٌ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
*Enyi Watu wa Kitabu! Bila ya shaka amekujilieni Mtume wetu akikubainishieni katika wakati usio kuwa na Mitume, msije mkasema: Hakufika kwetu mbashiri wala mwonyaji. Basi amekujieni mbashiri na mwonyaji. Na Mwenyezi Mungu anao uweza wa kila kitu.
*O People of the Book! Certainly Our Apostle has come to you, clarifying [the Divine teachings] for you after a gap in the appearance of the apostles, lest you should say, ‘There did not come to us any bearer of good news nor any warner.’ Certainly there has come to you a bearer of good news and warner. And God has power over all things.
5:20
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيكُمْ أَنْبِيَاءَ وَجَعَلَكُمْ مُلُوكًا وَآتَاكُمْ مَا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ
*Na pale Musa alipo waambia watu wake: Enyi watu wangu! Kumbukeni neema za Mwenyezi Mungu zilizo juu yenu, alipo wateuwa Manabii kati yenu, na akakufanyeni watawala, na akakupeni ambayo hakuwapa wowote katika walimwengu.
*When Moses said to his people, ‘O my people, remember God’s blessing upon you when He appointed prophets among you and made you kings, and gave you what none of the nations were given.
5:21
يَا قَوْمِ ادْخُلُوا الْأَرْضَ الْمُقَدَّسَةَ الَّتِي كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنْقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِينَ
*Enyi watu wangu! Ingieni katika nchi takatifu ambayo Mwenyezi Mungu amekuandikieni. Wala msirudi nyuma, msije mkawa wenye kukhasirika.
*O my people, enter the Holy Land which God has ordained for you, and do not turn your backs, or you will turn losers.’
5:22
قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوْمًا جَبَّارِينَ وَإِنَّا لَنْ نَدْخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَاخِلُونَ
*Wakasema: Ewe Musa! Huko wako watu majabari. Nasi hatutaingia huko mpaka wao watoke humo. Wakitoka humo hapo tutaingia.
*They said, ‘O Moses, there are a tyrannical people in it. We will not enter it until they leave it. But once they leave it, we will go in.’
5:23
قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا ادْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِمُ الْبَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمُوهُ فَإِنَّكُمْ غَالِبُونَ ۚ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
*Watu wawili miongoni mwa wachamngu ambao Mwenyezi Mungu amewaneemesha, walisema: Waingilieni kwa mlangoni. Mtakapo waingilia basi kwa yakini nyinyi mtashinda. Na mtegemeeni Mwenyezi Mungu ikiwa nyinyi ni Waumini.
*Said two men from among those who were Godfearing and whom God had blessed: ‘Go at them by the gate! For once you have entered it, you will be the victors. Put your trust in God alone, should you be faithful.’
5:24
قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَنْ نَدْخُلَهَا أَبَدًا مَا دَامُوا فِيهَا ۖ فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ
*Wakasema: Ewe Musa! Sisi hatutaingia humo kamwe maadamu wao wamo humo. Basi nenda wewe na Mola wako Mlezi mkapigane. Sisi tutakaa hapa hapa.
*They said, ‘O Moses, we will never enter it so long as they remain in it. Go ahead, you and your Lord, and fight! We will be sitting right here.’
5:25
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا نَفْسِي وَأَخِي ۖ فَافْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ
*Akasema: Mola wangu Mlezi! Hakika mimi similiki ila nafsi yangu na ndugu yangu. Basi tutenge na hawa watu wapotovu.
*He said, ‘My Lord! I have no power over anyone except myself and my brother, so part us from the transgressing lot.’
5:26
قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ۛ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ
*(Mwenyezi Mungu) akasema: Basi nchi hiyo wameharimishiwa muda wa miaka arubaini, watakuwa wakitanga-tanga katika ardhi. Basi wewe usiwasikitikie watu wapotovu.
*He said, ‘It shall be forbidden them for forty years: they shall wander about in the land. So do not grieve for the transgressing lot.’
5:27
وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ بِالْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ الْآخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْمُتَّقِينَ
*Na wasomee khabari za wana wawili wa Adam kwa kweli. Walipo toa mhanga, ukakubaliwa wa mmoja wao, na wa mwengine haukukubaliwa. Akasema: Nitakuuwa. Akasema mwengine: Mwenyezi Mungu huwapokelea wachamngu.
*Relate to them truly the account of Adam’s two sons. When the two of them offered an offering, it was accepted from one of them and not accepted from the other. One of them said, ‘Surely I will kill you.’ The other one said, ‘God accepts only from the Godwary.
5:28
لَئِنْ بَسَطْتَ إِلَيَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِي مَا أَنَا بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِيَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّي أَخَافُ اللَّهَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
*Ukininyooshea mkono wako kuniuwa, mimi sitakunyooshea mkono wangu kukuuwa. Hakika mimi namwogopa Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola wa walimwengu wote.
*Even if you extend your hand toward me to kill me, I will not extend my hand toward you to kill you. Indeed, I fear God, the Lord of all the worlds.
5:29
إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ تَبُوءَ بِإِثْمِي وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ الظَّالِمِينَ
*Mimi nataka ubebe dhambi zangu na dhambi zako, kwani wewe utakuwa miongoni mwa watu wa Motoni. Na hayo ndiyo malipo ya wenye kudhulumu.
*I desire that you earn the burden of my sin and your sin, to become one of the inmates of the Fire, and such is the requital of the wrongdoers.’
5:30
فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُ نَفْسُهُ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
*Basi nafsi yake ikampelekea kumuuwa nduguye, akamuuwa na akawa miongoni mwa wenye kukhasirika.
*So his soul prompted him to kill his brother and he killed him, and thus became one of the losers.
5:31
فَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يُوَارِي سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَا وَيْلَتَا أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَٰذَا الْغُرَابِ فَأُوَارِيَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِي ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ النَّادِمِينَ
*Hapo Mwenyezi Mungu akamleta kunguru anaye fukua katika ardhi ili amwonyeshe vipi kumsitiri nduguye. Akasema: Ole wangu! Nimeshindwa kuwa kama kunguru huyu nikamsitiri ndugu yangu? Basi akawa miongoni mwa wenye kujuta.
*Then God sent a crow, exploring in the ground, to show him how to bury the corpse of his brother. He said, ‘Woe to me! Am I unable to be even like this crow and bury my brother’s corpse?’ Thus he became regretful.
5:32
مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسًا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فِي الْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ
*Kwa sababu ya hayo tuliwaandikia Wana wa Israili ya kwamba aliye muuwa mtu bila ya yeye kuuwa, au kufanya uchafuzi katika nchi, basi ni kama amewauwa watu wote. Na mwenye kumuokoa mtu na mauti ni kama amewaokoa watu wote. Na hakika waliwajia Mitume wetu na hoja zilizo wazi. Kisha wengi katika wao baada ya haya wakawa waharibifu katika nchi.
*That is why We decreed for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, without the guilt of manslaughter or corruption on the earth, is as though he had killed all mankind, and whoever saves a life is as though he had saved all mankind. Our apostles certainly brought them clear signs, yet even after that many of them commit excesses on the earth.
5:33
إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ الَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَنْ يُقَتَّلُوا أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوا أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
*Basi malipo ya wale wanao mpiga vita Mwenyezi Mungu na Mtume wake na wakawania kufanya uchafuzi katika nchi, ni kuuwawa, au kusalibiwa, au kukatwa mikono yao na miguu yao kwa mabadilisho, au kutolewa nchi. Hii ndiyo hizaya yao katika dunia; na katika Akhera watapata adhabu kubwa.
*Indeed, the requital of those who wage war against God and His Apostle and try to cause corruption on the earth, is that they shall be slain or crucified, or shall have their hands and feet cut off on opposite sides, or be banished from the land. That is a disgrace for them in this world, and in the Hereafter there is a great punishment for them,
5:34
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
*Isipo kuwa wale walio tubu kabla hamjawatia nguvuni. Na jueni kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye maghfira na Mwenye kurehemu.
*excepting those who repent before you capture them, and know that God is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
5:35
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَابْتَغُوا إِلَيْهِ الْوَسِيلَةَ وَجَاهِدُوا فِي سَبِيلِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu, na tafuteni njia ya kumfikilia. Na wanieni kwa juhudi kwa ajili yake ili mpate kuokoka.
*O you who have faith! Be wary of God, and seek the means of recourse to Him, and wage jihād in His way, so that you may be felicitous.
5:36
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُمْ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ لِيَفْتَدُوا بِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
*Hakika walio kufuru lau wange kuwa na yote yaliyomo duniani, na mengine kama hayo, ili watoe fidia ya kuepukana na adhabu ya Siku ya Kiyama, yasingeli pokelewa kwao; na watapata adhabu chungu.
*If the faithless possessed all that is on the earth, and as much of it besides, to redeem themselves with it from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it shall not be accepted from them, and there is a painful punishment for them.
5:37
يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَا هُمْ بِخَارِجِينَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُقِيمٌ
*Watataka watoke Motoni, lakini hawatatoka humo, na watakuwa na adhabu inayo dumu.
*They would long to leave the Fire, but they shall never leave it, and there is a lasting punishment for them.
5:38
وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمَا جَزَاءً بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَالًا مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
*Na mwizi mwanamume na mwizi mwanamke, ikateni mikono yao, hayo ni malipo ya waliyo yachuma, ndiyo adhabu ya mfano itokayo kwa Mwenyezi Mungu. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye nguvu na Mwenye hikima.
*As for the thief, man or woman, cut off their hands as a requital for what they have earned. That is an exemplary punishment from God, and God is all-mighty, all-wise.
5:39
فَمَنْ تَابَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهِ وَأَصْلَحَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
*Lakini mwenye kutubia baada ya dhulma yake, na akatengenea, basi Mwenyezi Mungu atapokea toba yake. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye maghfira na Mwenye kurehemu.
*But whoever repents after his wrongdoing, and reforms, God shall accept his repentance. God is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful.
5:40
أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ يُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
*Hujui ya kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu anao ufalme wa mbingu na ardhi? Humuadhibu amtakaye, na humsamehe amtakaye. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Muweza wa kila kitu.
*Do you not know that to God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whomever He wishes, and forgives whomever He wishes, and God has power over all things.
5:41
يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنْكَ الَّذِينَ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْكُفْرِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِنْ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۛ وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ هَادُوا ۛ سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّاعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ آخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ الْكَلِمَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِ ۖ يَقُولُونَ إِنْ أُوتِيتُمْ هَٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَاحْذَرُوا ۚ وَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ فِتْنَتَهُ فَلَنْ تَمْلِكَ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا خِزْيٌ ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
*Ewe Mtume! Wasikuhuzunishe wa fanyao haraka kukufuru, miongoni mwa wanao sema kwa vinywa vyao: Tumeamini, na hali nyoyo zao hazikuamini, na miongoni mwa Mayahudi, wanao sikiliza kwa ajili ya uwongo, wanao sikiliza kwa ajili ya watu wengine wasio kufikia. Wao huyabadilisha maneno kutoka pahala pake. Wanasema: Mkipewa haya basi yashikeni, na msipo pewa haya tahadharini. Na mtu ambaye Mwenyezi Mungu anataka kumfitini huwezi kuwa na madaraka naye mbele ya Mwenyezi Mungu. Hao ndio ambao Mwenyezi Mungu hataki kuzitakasa nyoyo zao. Watakuwa na hizaya duniani, na Akhera watakuwa na adhabu kubwa.
*O Apostle! Do not grieve for those who are active in promoting unfaith, such as those who say, ‘We believe’ with their mouths, but whose hearts have no faith, and the Jews who eavesdrop with the aim of telling lies [against you] and eavesdrop for other people who do not come to you. They pervert words from their meanings, and say, ‘If you are given this, take it, but if you are not given this, beware!’ Yet whomever God wishes to mislead, you cannot avail him anything against God. They are the ones whose hearts God did not desire to purify. There is disgrace for them in this world, and there is a great punishment for them in the Hereafter.
5:42
سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ أَكَّالُونَ لِلسُّحْتِ ۚ فَإِنْ جَاءُوكَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ تُعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ فَلَنْ يَضُرُّوكَ شَيْئًا ۖ وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْقِسْطِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ
*Hao ni wasikilizaji kwa ajili ya kusema uwongo, na ni walaji mno vya haramu! Basi wakikujia, wahukumu baina yao au jipuuze nao. Na ukijipuuza nao, basi wao hawatakudhuru kitu. Na ukiwahukumu, basi hukumu baina yao kwa uadilifu. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu anawapenda waadilifu.
*Eavesdroppers with the aim of telling lies, consumers of illicit gains! —if they come to you, judge between them, or disregard them. If you disregard them, they will not harm you in any way. But if you do judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed, God loves the just.
5:43
وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِنْدَهُمُ التَّوْرَاةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَا أُولَٰئِكَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ
*Na huwaje wakufanye wewe hakimu nao wanayo Taurati yenye hukumu za Mwenyezi Mungu? Kisha baada ya hayo wanageuka. Na hao si wenye kuamini.
*And how should they make you a judge, while with them is the Torah, in which is God’s judgement? Yet in spite of that they turn their backs on Him and they are not believers.
5:44
إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا التَّوْرَاةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ ۚ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا النَّبِيُّونَ الَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالرَّبَّانِيُّونَ وَالْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا اسْتُحْفِظُوا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَكَانُوا عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَاءَ ۚ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا النَّاسَ وَاخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا بِآيَاتِي ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۚ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ
*Hakika Sisi tuliteremsha Taurati yenye uwongofu na nuru, ambayo kwayo Manabii walio nyenyekea kiislamu, na wachamngu, na wanazuoni, waliwahukumu Mayahudi; kwani walikabidhiwa kukihifadhi Kitabu cha Mwenyezi Mungu. Nao wakawa ni mashahidi juu yake. Basi msiwaogope watu, bali niogopeni Mimi. Wala msibadilishe Aya zangu kwa thamani chache. Na wasio hukumu kwa aliyo teremsha Mwenyezi Mungu, basi hao ndio makafiri.
*We sent down the Torah containing guidance and light. The prophets, who had submitted, judged by it for the Jews, and so did the rabbis and the scribes, as they were charged to preserve the Book of God and were witnesses to it. So do not fear the people, but fear Me, and do not sell My signs for a paltry gain. Those who do not judge by what God has sent down —it is they who are the faithless.
5:45
وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَا أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ وَالْعَيْنَ بِالْعَيْنِ وَالْأَنْفَ بِالْأَنْفِ وَالْأُذُنَ بِالْأُذُنِ وَالسِّنَّ بِالسِّنِّ وَالْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ ۚ فَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِهِ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَهُ ۚ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ
*Na humo tuliwaandikia ya kwamba roho kwa roho, na jicho kwa jicho, na pua kwa pua, na sikio kwa sikio, na jino kwa jino, na kwa majaraha kisasi. Lakini atakaye samehe basi itakuwa ni kafara kwake. Na wasio hukumu kwa yale aliyo yateremsha Mwenyezi Mungu, basi hao ndio madhaalimu.
*In it We prescribed for them: a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and retaliation for wounds. Yet whoever remits it out of charity, that shall be an atonement for him. Those who do not judge by what God has sent down —it is they who are the wrongdoers.
5:46
وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ ۖ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنْجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
*Na tukawafuatishia hao Isa bin Maryamu kuyahakikisha yaliyo kuwa kabla yake katika Taurati, na tukampa Injili iliyomo ndani yake uwongofu, na nuru na inayo sadikisha yaliyo kuwa kabla yake katika Taurati, na uwongofu na mawaidha kwa wachamngu.
*We followed them with Jesus son of Mary to confirm that which was before him of the Torah, and We gave him the Evangel containing guidance and light, confirming what was before it of the Torah, and as guidance and advice for the Godwary.
5:47
وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ الْإِنْجِيلِ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
*Na wahukumu Watu wa Injili kwa yale aliyo teremsha Mwenyezi Mungu ndani yake. Na wasio hukumu kwa yale aliyo yateremsha Mwenyezi Mungu basi hao ndio wapotofu.
*Let the people of the Evangel judge by what God has sent down in it. Those who do not judge by what God has sent down —it is they who are the transgressors.
5:48
وَأَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ ۚ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَٰكِنْ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَا آتَاكُمْ ۖ فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ ۚ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ
*Na tumekuteremshia wewe, kwa haki, Kitabu hichi kinacho sadikisha yaliyo kuwa kabla yake katika Vitabu na kuyalinda. Basi hukumu baina yao kwa aliyo yateremsha Mwenyezi Mungu, wala usifuate matamanio yao ukaacha Haki iliyo kujia. Kila mmoja katika nyinyi tumemwekea sharia yake na njia yake. Na lau kuwa Mwenyezi Mungu angeli taka ange kufanyeni nyote umma mmoja, lakini ni kukujaribuni kwa aliyo kupeni. Basi shindaneni kwa mambo ya kheri. Kwa Mwenyezi Mungu ndio marejeo yenu nyote, na atakuja kuwaambieni yale mliyo kuwa mkikhitalifiana.
*We have sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming what is before it of the Book and as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what God has sent down, and do not follow their base desires against the truth that has come to you. For each community among you We had appointed a code of law and a path, and had God wished He would have made you one community, but His purposes required that He should test you with respect to what He has given you. So take the lead in all good works. To God shall be the return of you all, whereat He will inform you concerning that about which you used to differ.
5:49
وَأَنِ احْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنْ بَعْضِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُصِيبَهُمْ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ النَّاسِ لَفَاسِقُونَ
*Na wahukumu baina yao kwa aliyo yateremsha Mwenyezi Mungu, wala usifuate matamanio yao. Nawe tahadhari nao wasije kukufitini ukaacha baadhi ya aliyo kuteremshia Mwenyezi Mungu. Na wakigeuka, basi jua kwamba hakika Mwenyezi Mungu anataka kuwasibu kwa baadhi ya dhambi zao. Na hakika wengi wa watu ni wapotofu.
*Judge between them by what God has sent down, and do not follow their base desires. Beware of them lest they should beguile you from part of what God has sent down to you. But if they turn their backs on you, then know that God desires to punish them for some of their sins, and indeed many of those people are transgressors.
5:50
أَفَحُكْمَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ ۚ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ
*Je, wao wanataka hukumu za Kijahiliya? Na nani aliye mwema zaidi katika kuhukumu kuliko Mwenyezi Mungu kwa watu wenye yakini?
*Do they seek the judgement of pagan ignorance? But who is better than God in judgement for a people who have certainty?
5:51
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۘ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Msiwafanye Mayahudi na Wakristo kuwa ni marafiki. Wao ni marafiki wao kwa wao. Na miongoni mwenu mwenye kufanya urafiki nao, basi huyo ni katika wao. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu hawaongoi watu wenye kudhulumu.
*O you who have faith! Do not take the Jews and the Christians for allies: they are allies of each other. Any of you who allies with them is indeed one of them. Indeed, God does not guide the wrongdoing lot.
5:52
فَتَرَى الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ يُسَارِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَىٰ أَنْ تُصِيبَنَا دَائِرَةٌ ۚ فَعَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ بِالْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَيُصْبِحُوا عَلَىٰ مَا أَسَرُّوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ نَادِمِينَ
*Utawaona wale wenye maradhi nyoyoni mwao wanakimbilia kwao wakisema: Tunakhofu yasitusibu mabadiliko. Huenda Mwenyezi Mungu akaleta ushindi au jambo jingine litokalo kwake wakawa wenye kujuta kwa waliyo yaficha katika nafsi zao.
*Yet you see those in whose hearts is a sickness rushing to them, saying, ‘We fear lest a turn of fortune should visit us.’ Maybe God will bring about a victory or a command from Him, and then they will be regretful for what they kept secret in their hearts,
5:53
وَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَهَٰؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ أَقْسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ ۙ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ ۚ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا خَاسِرِينَ
*Na walio amini watasema: Hivyo hawa ndio wale walio apa ukomo wa viapo vyao kuwa wao wa pamoja nanyi? Vitendo vyao vitapotea bure, na wataamkia kuwa wenye kukhasirika.
*and the faithful will say, ‘Are these the ones who swore by God with solemn oaths that they were with you?!’ Their works have failed, and they have become losers.
5:54
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَنْ يَرْتَدَّ مِنْكُمْ عَنْ دِينِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِي اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ يُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَائِمٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
*Enyi mlio amini! Atakaye iacha miongoni mwenu Dini yake, basi Mwenyezi Mungu atakuja leta watu anao wapenda nao wanampenda, wanyenyekevu kwa Waumini na wenye nguvu juu ya makafiri, wanapigania Jihadi katika Njia ya Mwenyezi Mungu, wala hawaogopi lawama ya anaye laumu. Hiyo ndiyo fadhila ya Mwenyezi Mungu, humpa amtakaye. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkunjufu na Mwenye kujua.
*O you who have faith! Should any of you desert his religion, God will soon bring a people whom He loves and who love Him, who will be humble towards the faithful, stern towards the faithless, waging jihād in the way of God, not fearing the blame of any blamer. That is God’s grace which He grants to whomever He wishes, and God is all-bounteous, all-knowing.
5:55
إِنَّمَا وَلِيُّكُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ رَاكِعُونَ
*Hakika rafiki yenu mlinzi ni Mwenyezi Mungu na Mtume wake na walio amini, ambao hushika Sala na hutoa Zaka nao wananyenyekea.
*Your guardian is only God, His Apostle, and the faithful who maintain the prayer and give the zakāt while bowing down.
5:56
وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ
*Na atakaye fanya urafiki na Mwenyezi Mungu na Mtume wake na walio amini, basi hakika kundi la Mwenyezi Mungu ndilo lenye kushinda.
*Whoever takes for his guardians God, His Apostle and the faithful [should know that] the confederates of God are indeed victorious.
5:57
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَالْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Msiwafanye marafiki wale walio ifanyia kejeli na mchezo Dini yenu miongoni mwa walio pewa Kitabu kabla yenu, na makafiri wengine. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu kama nyinyi ni wenye kuamini.
*O you who have faith! Do not take those who take your religion in derision and play, from among those who were given the Book before you, and the infidels, as allies, and be wary of God, should you be faithful.
5:58
وَإِذَا نَادَيْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اتَّخَذُوهَا هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
*Na mnapo adhinia Sala wao wanaichukulia maskhara na mchezo. Hayo ni kwa sababu wao ni watu wasio na akili.
*When you call to prayer, they take it in derision and play. That is because they are a people who do not reason.
5:59
قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ هَلْ تَنْقِمُونَ مِنَّا إِلَّا أَنْ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَأَنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ فَاسِقُونَ
*Sema: Enyi Watu wa Kitabu! Hivyo mnatuchukia kwa kuwa tumemuamini Mwenyezi Mungu na tuliyo teremshiwa na yaliyo teremshwa kabla, na kwa kuwa wengi katika nyinyi ni wapotofu?
*Say, ‘O People of the Book! Are you vindictive toward us for any reason except that we have faith in God and in what has been sent down to us and in what was sent down before, and that most of you are transgressors?’
5:60
قُلْ هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشَرٍّ مِنْ ذَٰلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۚ مَنْ لَعَنَهُ اللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهُمُ الْقِرَدَةَ وَالْخَنَازِيرَ وَعَبَدَ الطَّاغُوتَ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ شَرٌّ مَكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ
*Sema: Je! Nikwambieni yule ambaye ni mwenye malipo mabaya zaidi kuliko hayo mbele ya Mwenyezi Mungu? Ni yule ambaye Mwenyezi Mungu amemlaani na amemkasirikia, na amewafanya miongoni mwao manyani na nguruwe, na wakamuabudu Shet´ani. Hao ndio wenye mahali pabaya na wamepotea zaidi njia iliyo sawa.
*Say, ‘Shall I inform you concerning something worse than that as requital from God? Those whom God has cursed and with whom He is wrathful, and turned some of whom into apes and swine, and worshipers of satanic entities! Such are in a worse situation and more astray from the right way.’
5:61
وَإِذَا جَاءُوكُمْ قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَقَدْ دَخَلُوا بِالْكُفْرِ وَهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا بِهِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْتُمُونَ
*Na wanapo kujieni husema: Tumeamini. Lakini hakika wao wameingia na ukafiri wao, na wametoka nao pia. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mjuzi kabisa wa yote wanayo yaficha.
*When they come to you, they say, ‘We believe.’ Certainly they enter with disbelief and leave with it, and God knows best what they have been concealing.
5:62
وَتَرَىٰ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَأَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
*Na utawaona wengi katika wao wanakimbilia kwenye dhambi, na uadui, na ulaji wao vya haramu. Ni maovu mno hayo wayatendayo!
*You see many of them actively engaged in sin and aggression and consuming illicit gains. Surely, evil is what they have been doing.
5:63
لَوْلَا يَنْهَاهُمُ الرَّبَّانِيُّونَ وَالْأَحْبَارُ عَنْ قَوْلِهِمُ الْإِثْمَ وَأَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُونَ
*Mbona hao wanazuoni na makohani wao hawawakatazi maneno yao ya dhambi, na ulaji wao vya haramu? Ni maovu mno hayo wayafanyayo!
*Why do not the rabbis and the scribes forbid them from sinful speech and consuming illicit gains? Surely, evil is what they have been working.
5:64
وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ يَدُ اللَّهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ ۚ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا بِمَا قَالُوا ۘ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنْفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا ۚ وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ كُلَّمَا أَوْقَدُوا نَارًا لِلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا اللَّهُ ۚ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا ۚ وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
*Na Mayahudi walisema: Mkono wa Mwenyezi Mungu umefumba. Mikono yao ndiyo iliyo fumba, na wamelaaniwa kwa sababu ya waliyo yasema. Bali mikono yake iwazi. Hutoa apendavyo. Kwa yakini yaliyo teremshwa kwako kutoka kwa Mola wako Mlezi yatawazidisha wengi katika wao uasi na kufuru. Na Sisi tumewatilia uadui na chuki baina yao mpaka Siku ya Kiyama. Kila mara wanapo washa moto wa vita, Mwenyezi Mungu anauzima. Na wanajitahidi kuleta uharibifu katika ardhi. Na Mwenyezi Mungu hawapendi waharibifu.
*The Jews say, ‘God’s hand is tied up.’ Tied up be their hands, and cursed be they for what they say! No, His hands are wide open: He bestows as He wishes. Surely many of them will be increased by what has been sent to you from your Lord in rebellion and unfaith, and We have cast enmity and hatred amongst them until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they ignite the flames of war, God puts them out. They seek to cause corruption on the earth, and God does not like the agents of corruption.
5:65
وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَكَفَّرْنَا عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَلَأَدْخَلْنَاهُمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
*Na lau kuwa Watu wa Kitabu wangeli amini na wakachamngu hapana shaka tungeli wafutia makosa yao, na tungeli waingiza katika Bustani zenye neema.
*Had the People of the Book believed and been Godwary, We would have absolved them of their misdeeds and admitted them into gardens of bliss.
5:66
وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنْجِيلَ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ لَأَكَلُوا مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ ۚ مِنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُقْتَصِدَةٌ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ سَاءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ
*Na lau kuwa wangeli ishika Taurati na Injili na yote waliyo teremshiwa kutokana na Mola wao Mlezi, basi hapana shaka wangeli kula vya juu yao na vya chini ya miguu yao. Wapo watu miongoni mwao walio sawa, lakini wengi wao wanayo yafanya ni mabaya mno.
*Had they observed the Torah and the Evangel, and what was sent down to them from their Lord, they would have drawn nourishment from above them and from beneath their feet. There is an upright group among them, but what many of them do is evil.
5:67
يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ
*Ewe Mtume! Fikisha uliyo teremshiwa kutoka kwa Mola wako Mlezi. Na ikiwa hukufanya hayo basi hukufikisha ujumbe wake. Na Mwenyezi Mungu atakulinda na watu. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu hawaongoi watu makafiri.
*O Apostle! Communicate that which has been sent down to you from your Lord, and if you do not, you will not have communicated His message, and God will protect you from those people. Indeed, God does not guide the faithless lot.
5:68
قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا التَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنْجِيلَ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ ۗ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا ۖ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
*Sema: Enyi Watu wa Kitabu! Hamna lenu jambo mpaka muishike Taurati na Injili na yote mlio teremshiwa kutokana na Mola wenu Mlezi. Na hakika ulio teremshiwa wewe kutokana na Mola wako Mlezi yatawazidishia wengi katika wao uasi na ukafiri. Basi usiwasikitikie watu makafiri.
*Say, ‘O People of the Book! You do not stand on anything until you observe the Torah and the Evangel and what has been sent down to you from your Lord.’ Surely many of them will be increased by what has been sent down to you from your Lord in rebellion and unfaith. So do not grieve for the faithless lot.
5:69
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالصَّابِئُونَ وَالنَّصَارَىٰ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
*Hakika walio amini, na Mayahudi na Masabii na Wakristo, walio muamini Mwenyezi Mungu, na Siku ya mwisho, na wakatenda mema, basi hawatakuwa na khofu wala hawatahuzunika.
*Indeed, the faithful, the Jews, the Sabaeans, and the Christians —those who have faith in God and the Last Day and act righteously— they will have no fear, nor will they grieve.
5:70
لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا ۖ كُلَّمَا جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰ أَنْفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُوا وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ
*Tulifanya agano na Wana wa Israili, na tukawatumia Mitume. Kila alipo wajia Mtume kwa wasio yapenda nafsi zao wengine waliwakanusha na wengine wakawauwa.
*Certainly We took a pledge from the Children of Israel and We sent apostles to them. Whenever an apostle brought them that which was not to their liking, they would impugn a part of them and a part they would slay.
5:71
وَحَسِبُوا أَلَّا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ فَعَمُوا وَصَمُّوا ثُمَّ تَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ عَمُوا وَصَمُّوا كَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
*Na wakadhani kuwa hapatakuwa majaribio; basi wakawa vipofu na viziwi. Kisha Mwenyezi Mungu akawapokelea toba zao. Kisha tena wengi katika wao wakawa vipofu na viziwi. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye kuyaona hayo wayatendayo.
*They supposed there would be no testing, so they became blind and deaf. Thereafter God accepted their repentance, yet again many of them became blind and deaf, and God watches what they do.
5:72
لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَقَالَ الْمَسِيحُ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ مَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنْصَارٍ
*Hakika wamekufuru walio sema: Mwenyezi Mungu ni Masihi mwana wa Maryamu! Na hali Masihi mwenyewe alisema: Enyi Wana wa Israili! Muabuduni Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola wangu Mlezi na Mola wenu Mlezi. Kwani anaye mshirikisha Mwenyezi Mungu, hakika Mwenyezi Mungu atamharimishia Pepo, na mahala pake ni Motoni. Na walio dhulumu hawatakuwa na wa kuwanusuru.
*They are certainly faithless who say, ‘God is the Messiah, son of Mary.’ But the Messiah had said, ‘O Children of Israel! Worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Indeed, whoever ascribes partners to God, God will forbid him entry into paradise, and his refuge will be the Fire, and the wrongdoers will not have any helpers.’
5:73
لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ ۘ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۚ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهُوا عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
*Kwa hakika wamekufuru walio sema: Mwenyezi Mungu ni wa tatu wa Utatu. Hali hakuna mungu ila Mungu Mmoja. Na ikiwa hawaachi hayo wanayo yasema, kwa yakini itawakamata adhabu chungu wale wanao kufuru.
*They are certainly faithless who say, ‘God is the third person of a trinity,’ while there is no god except the One God. If they do not desist from what they say, there shall befall the faithless among them a painful punishment.
5:74
أَفَلَا يَتُوبُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
*Je! Hawatubu kwa Mwenyezi Mungu na wakamwomba msamaha? Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye maghfira na Mwenye kurehemu.
*Will they not repent to God and plead to Him for forgiveness? Yet God is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
5:75
مَا الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ وَأُمُّهُ صِدِّيقَةٌ ۖ كَانَا يَأْكُلَانِ الطَّعَامَ ۗ انْظُرْ كَيْفَ نُبَيِّنُ لَهُمُ الْآيَاتِ ثُمَّ انْظُرْ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ
*Masihi mwana wa Maryam si chochote ila ni Mtume. Wamekwisha pita Mitume kabla yake. Na mama yake ni mwanamke mkweli. Wote wawili walikuwa wakila chakula. Angalia jinsi tunavyo wabainishia Aya, kisha angalia vipi wanavyo geuzwa.
*The Messiah, son of Mary, is but an apostle. Certainly other apostles have passed before him, and his mother was a truthful one. Both of them would eat food. Look how We clarify the signs for them, and yet, look, how they go astray!
5:76
قُلْ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا ۚ وَاللَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
*Sema: Je! Mnawaabudu, badala ya Mwenyezi Mungu, wale ambao hawawezi kukudhuruni wala kukufaeni? Na Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye Mwenye kusikia, Mwenye kujua.
*Say, ‘Do you worship, besides God, what has no power to bring you any benefit or harm, while God—He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing?!’
5:77
قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا فِي دِينِكُمْ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا أَهْوَاءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَأَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا وَضَلُّوا عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ
*Sema: Enyi Watu wa Kitabu! Msipite kiasi katika dini yenu bila ya haki. Wala msifuate matamanio ya watu walio kwisha potea tangu zamani, na wakawapoteza wengi, na wenyewe wakapotea njia iliyo sawa.
*Say, ‘O People of the Book! Do not unduly exceed the bounds in your religion and do not follow the base desires of a people who went astray in the past and led many astray, and themselves strayed from the right path.’
5:78
لُعِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَىٰ لِسَانِ دَاوُودَ وَعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَكَانُوا يَعْتَدُونَ
*Walilaaniwa walio kufuru miongoni mwa Wana wa Israili kwa ulimi wa Daud na wa Isa mwana wa Maryamu. Hayo ni kwa sababu waliasi na wakawa wanapindukia mipaka.
*The faithless among the Children of Israel were cursed on the tongue of David and Jesus son of Mary. That, because they would disobey and commit transgressions.
5:79
كَانُوا لَا يَتَنَاهَوْنَ عَنْ مُنْكَرٍ فَعَلُوهُ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ
*Walikuwa hawakatazani maovu waliyo kuwa wakiyafanya. Hakika ni maovu yalioje mambo waliyo kuwa wakiyafanya!
*They would not forbid one another from the wrongs that they committed. Surely, evil is what they had been doing.
5:80
تَرَىٰ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لَهُمْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ أَنْ سَخِطَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَفِي الْعَذَابِ هُمْ خَالِدُونَ
*Utawaona wengi wao wanafanya urafiki na walio kufuru. Hakika ni maovu yaliyo tangulizwa na nafsi zao hata Mwenyezi Mungu amewakasirikia, nao watadumu katika adhabu.
*You see many of them allying with the faithless. Surely, evil is what they have sent ahead for their own souls, as God is displeased with them and they shall remain in punishment.
5:81
وَلَوْ كَانُوا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالنَّبِيِّ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَا اتَّخَذُوهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ وَلَٰكِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ
*Na lau wangeli kuwa wanamuamini Mwenyezi Mungu, na huyu Nabii, na yaliyo teremshwa kwake, wasingeli wafanya hao marafiki. Lakini wengi katika wao ni wapotofu.
*Had they believed in God and the Prophet and what has been sent down to him, they would not have taken them for allies. But most of them are transgressors.
5:82
لَتَجِدَنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَدَاوَةً لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا ۖ وَلَتَجِدَنَّ أَقْرَبَهُمْ مَوَدَّةً لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا الَّذِينَ قَالُوا إِنَّا نَصَارَىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ مِنْهُمْ قِسِّيسِينَ وَرُهْبَانًا وَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
*Hakika utawakuta walio shadidi kuliko watu wote katika uadui kwa walio amini ni Mayahudi na washirikina. Na utawakuta walio karibu mno kwa mapenzi ni wale wanao sema: Sisi ni Manasara. Hayo ni kwa sababu wapo miongoni mwao makasisi na wamonaki, na kwa sababu wao hawafanyi kiburi.
*Surely, you will find the most hostile of all people towards the faithful to be the Jews and the polytheists, and surely you will find the nearest of them in affection for the faithful to be those who say ‘We are Christians.’ That is because there are priests and monks among them, and because they are not arrogant.
5:83
وَإِذَا سَمِعُوا مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ تَرَىٰ أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُوا مِنَ الْحَقِّ ۖ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
*NA WANAPO SIKIA yaliyo teremshwa kwa Mtume utaona macho yao yanachururika machozi kwa sababu ya Haki waliyo itambua. Wanasema: Mola wetu Mlezi! Tumeamini. Basi tuandike pamoja na wanao shuhudia.
*When they hear what has been revealed to the Apostle, you see their eyes fill with tears because of the truth that they recognize. They say, ‘Our Lord, we believe; so write us down among the witnesses.
5:84
وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَمَا جَاءَنَا مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَنَطْمَعُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الصَّالِحِينَ
*Na kwa nini tusimuamini Mwenyezi Mungu na Haki iliyo tujia, na hali tunatumai Mola wetu Mlezi atuingize pamoja na watu wema?
*Why should we not believe in God and the truth that has come to us, eager as we are that our Lord should admit us among the righteous people?’
5:85
فَأَثَابَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِمَا قَالُوا جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
*Basi Mwenyezi Mungu atawalipa, kwa yale waliyo yasema, Bustani zipitazo mito katika yake; humo watadumu. Na haya ndiyo malipo ya wafanyao wema.
*So, for what they said, God requited them with gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them, and that is the reward of the virtuous.
5:86
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ
*Na wale walio kufuru na wakazikanusha Ishara zetu, hao ndio watu wa Motoni.
*But as for those who are faithless and deny Our signs —they shall be the inmates of hell.
5:87
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تُحَرِّمُوا طَيِّبَاتِ مَا أَحَلَّ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَعْتَدُوا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Msiharimishe vizuri alivyo kuhalalishieni Mwenyezi Mungu, wala msikiuke mipaka. Hakika Mwenyezi Mungu hawapendi wakiukao mipaka.
*O you who have faith! Do not prohibit the good things that God has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Indeed, God does not like the transgressors.
5:88
وَكُلُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَنْتُمْ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ
*Na kuleni katika alivyo kuruzukuni Mwenyezi Mungu, halali na vizuri. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu ambaye mnamuamini.
*Eat the lawful and good things that God has provided you, and be wary of God in whom you have faith.
5:89
لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللَّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ يُؤَاخِذُكُمْ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُمُ الْأَيْمَانَ ۖ فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ ۖ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ ۚ وَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ آيَاتِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
*Mwenyezi Mungu hatakushikeni kwa viapo vyenu vya upuuzi, lakini atakushikeni kwa mnavyo apa kweli kweli kwa makusudio. Basi kafara yake ni kuwalisha masikini kumi kwa chakula cha wastani mnacho walisha ahali zenu, au kuwavisha, au kumkomboa mtumwa. Asiye pata hayo, basi afunge siku tatu. Hii ndiyo kafara ya viapo vyenu mnapo apa. Na hifadhini yamini zenu. Namna hivyo Mwenyezi Mungu anakubainishieni Aya zake ili mpate kushukuru.
*God will not take you to task for what is frivolous in your oaths; but He will take you to task for what you pledge in earnest. The atonement for it is to feed ten needy persons with the average food you give to your families, or their clothing, or the freeing of a slave. He who cannot afford any of these shall fast for three days. That is the atonement for your oaths when you vow. But keep your oaths. Thus does God clarify His signs for you so that you may give thanks.
5:90
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنْصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Bila ya shaka ulevi, na kamari, na kuabudu masanamu, na kupiga ramli, ni uchafu katika kazi ya Shet´ani. Basi jiepusheni navyo, ili mpate kufanikiwa.
*O you who have faith! Indeed, wine, gambling, idols and the divining arrows are abominations of Satan’s doing, so avoid them, so that you may be felicitous.
5:91
إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ يُوقِعَ بَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ فِي الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَعَنِ الصَّلَاةِ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُنْتَهُونَ
*Hakika Shet´ani anataka kutia kati yenu uadui na chuki kwa ulevi na kamari, na akuzuieni kumkumbuka Mwenyezi Mungu na kusali. Basi je, mmeacha?
*Indeed, Satan seeks to cast enmity and hatred among you through wine and gambling, and to hinder you from the remembrance of God and from prayer. Will you, then, relinquish?
5:92
وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَاحْذَرُوا ۚ فَإِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا عَلَىٰ رَسُولِنَا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ
*Na mt´iini Mwenyezi Mungu, na mt´iini Mtume, na tahadharini. Na ikiwa mtageuka basi jueni ya kuwa juu ya Mtume wetu ni kufikisha ujumbe tu ulio wazi.
*Obey God and obey the Apostle, and beware; but if you turn your backs, then know that Our Apostle’s duty is only to communicate in clear terms.
5:93
لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا إِذَا مَا اتَّقَوْا وَآمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ ثُمَّ اتَّقَوْا وَآمَنُوا ثُمَّ اتَّقَوْا وَأَحْسَنُوا ۗ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
*Si dhambi juu ya walio amini na wakatenda mema kwa walivyo vila (zamani) maadamu wakichamngu na wakiamini na wakitenda mema, kisha wakachamngu, na wakaamini, kisha wakachamngu na wakafanya mazuri. Na Mwenyezi Mungu huwapenda wafanyao mazuri.
*There will be no sin upon those who have faith and do righteous deeds in regard to what they have eaten in the past so long as they are Godwary and faithful and do righteous deeds, and are further Godwary and faithful, and are further Godwary and virtuous. And God loves the virtuous.
5:94
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَيَبْلُوَنَّكُمُ اللَّهُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الصَّيْدِ تَنَالُهُ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَرِمَاحُكُمْ لِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَخَافُهُ بِالْغَيْبِ ۚ فَمَنِ اعْتَدَىٰ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
*Enyi mlio amini! Mwenyezi Mungu atakujaribuni kidogo kwa wanyama wa kuwinda inayo wafikia mikono yenu na mikuki yenu, ili Mwenyezi Mungu amjue nani anaye mkhofu kwa ghaibu. Basi atakaye ruka mipaka baada ya hayo atapata adhabu kali.
*O you who have faith! God will surely test you with some of the game within the reach of your hands and spears, so that God may know those who fear Him in secret. So whoever transgresses after that, there is a painful punishment for him.
5:95
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَقْتُلُوا الصَّيْدَ وَأَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۚ وَمَنْ قَتَلَهُ مِنْكُمْ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاءٌ مِثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ النَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِهِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ هَدْيًا بَالِغَ الْكَعْبَةِ أَوْ كَفَّارَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَاكِينَ أَوْ عَدْلُ ذَٰلِكَ صِيَامًا لِيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِ ۗ عَفَا اللَّهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَ ۚ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَيَنْتَقِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ ذُو انْتِقَامٍ
*Enyi mlio amini! Msiue wanyama wa kuwinda nanyi mmeharimia katika Hija. Na miongoni mwenu atakaye muuwa makusudi, basi malipo yake yatakuwa kwa kuchinja kilicho sawa na alicho kiuwa, katika mifugo, kama wanavyo hukumu waadilifu wawili miongoni mwenu. Mnyama huyo apelekwe kwenye Al Kaaba, au kutoa kafara kwa kuwalisha masikini; au badala ya hayo ni kufunga, ili aonje ubaya wa jambo lake hili. Mwenyezi Mungu amekwisha yafuta yaliyo pita; lakini atakaye fanya tena Mwenyezi Mungu atampa adhabu. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye Mwenye nguvu na Mwenye kuadhibu.
*O you who have faith! Do not kill any game when you are in pilgrim sanctity. Should any of you kill it intentionally, its atonement will be the counterpart from cattle of what he has killed, as judged by two just men among you, brought to the Ka‘bah as an offering, or an atonement by feeding needy persons, or its equivalent in fasting, that he may taste the untoward consequence of his conduct. God has excused what is already past; but should anyone resume, God will take vengeance on him, for God is all-mighty, avenger.
5:96
أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ صَيْدُ الْبَحْرِ وَطَعَامُهُ مَتَاعًا لَكُمْ وَلِلسَّيَّارَةِ ۖ وَحُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ صَيْدُ الْبَرِّ مَا دُمْتُمْ حُرُمًا ۗ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
*Nyinyi mmehalalishiwa kuvua vinyama vya baharini na kuvila, kwa faida yenu na kwa wasafiri. Na mmeharimishiwa mawindo ya wanyama wa bara maadamu mmeharimia Hija. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu ambaye mtakusanywa kwake.
*You are permitted the game of the sea and its food, a provision for you and for the caravans, but you are forbidden the game of the land so long as you remain in pilgrim sanctity, and be wary of God toward whom you will be gathered.
5:97
جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الْكَعْبَةَ الْبَيْتَ الْحَرَامَ قِيَامًا لِلنَّاسِ وَالشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ وَالْهَدْيَ وَالْقَلَائِدَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِتَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
*Mwenyezi Mungu ameifanya Al Kaaba, hii Nyumba Tukufu, ni simamio la watu, na kadhaalika Miezi Mitukufu, na wanyama wa dhabihu, na vigwe. Hayo ili mjue ya kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu anayajua yaliyomo mbinguni na yaliyomo katika ardhi, na ya kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mjuzi wa kila kitu.
*God has made the Ka‘bah, the Sacred House, a means of sustentation for mankind, and also the sacred month, the offering and the garlands, so that you may know that God knows whatever there is in the heavens and whatever there is in the earth, and that God has knowledge of all things.
5:98
اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
*Jueni kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mkali wa kuadhibu, na ya kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye maghfira, na Mwenye kurehemu.
*Know that God is severe in retribution, and that God is all-forgiving, all-merciful.
5:99
مَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا تَكْتُمُونَ
*Haimlazimu Mtume ila kufikisha ujumbe tu. Na Mwenyezi Mungu anajua mnacho kidhihirisha na mnacho kificha.
*The Apostle’s duty is only to communicate and God knows whatever you disclose and whatever you conceal.
5:100
قُلْ لَا يَسْتَوِي الْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ الْخَبِيثِ ۚ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَا أُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
*Sema: Haviwi sawa viovu na vyema ujapo kupendeza wingi wa viovu. Basi mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu, enyi wenye akili, ili mpate kufanikiwa.
*Say, ‘The good and the bad are not equal, though the abundance of the bad should amaze you.’ So be wary of God, O you who possess intellect, so that you may be felicitous!
5:101
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ وَإِنْ تَسْأَلُوا عَنْهَا حِينَ يُنَزَّلُ الْقُرْآنُ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ عَفَا اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
*Enyi mlio amini! Msiulize mambo ambayo mkidhihirishiwa yatakuchukizeni. Na mkiyauliza inapo teremshwa Qur´ani mtabainishiwa. Mwenyezi Mungu amesamehe hayo. Na Mwenyezi Mungu ni Mwenye maghfira Mpole.
*O you who have faith! Do not ask about things which, if they are disclosed for you, will upset you. Yet if you ask about them while the Qur’ān is being sent down, they shall be disclosed to you. God has excused it, and God is all-forgiving, all-forbearing.
5:102
قَدْ سَأَلَهَا قَوْمٌ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحُوا بِهَا كَافِرِينَ
*Waliyauliza hayo watu wa kabla yenu, kisha wakawa wenye kuyakataa.
*Certainly some people asked about them before you and then came to disbelieve in them.
5:103
مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَائِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ ۙ وَلَٰكِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ ۖ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
*Mwenyezi Mungu hakujaalia uharamu wowote juu ya "Bahira" wala "Saiba" wala "Wasila" wala "Hami". Lakini walio kufuru humzulia uwongo Mwenyezi Mungu, na wengi wao hawatumii akili.
*God has not prescribed any such thing as Baḥīrah, Sā’ibah, Waṣīlah, or Ḥām; but those who are faithless fabricate lies against God, and most of them do not exercise their reason.
5:104
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا إِلَىٰ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَإِلَى الرَّسُولِ قَالُوا حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَنَا ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ
*Na wanapo ambiwa: Njooni kwenye yale aliyo yateremsha Mwenyezi Mungu, na kwa Mtume, husema: Yanatutosha tuliyo wakuta nayo baba zetu. Je, hata ikiwa baba zao walikuwa hawajui kitu wala hawakuongoka?
*When they are told, ‘Come to what God has sent down and come to the Apostle,’ they say, ‘Sufficient for us is what we have found our fathers following.’ What, even if their fathers did not know anything and were not guided?!
5:105
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ ۖ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ ۚ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Kilicho lazima juu yenu ni nafsi zenu. Hawakudhuruni walio potoka ikiwa nyinyi mmeongoka. Ni kwa Mwenyezi Mungu ndio marudio yenu nyote; basi atakwambieni yale mliyo kuwa mkiyatenda.
*O you who have faith! Take care of your own souls. Those who are astray cannot harm you if you are guided. To God will be the return of you all, whereat He will inform you concerning what you have been doing.
5:106
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا شَهَادَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ حِينَ الْوَصِيَّةِ اثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ أَوْ آخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَأَصَابَتْكُمْ مُصِيبَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۚ تَحْبِسُونَهُمَا مِنْ بَعْدِ الصَّلَاةِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِاللَّهِ إِنِ ارْتَبْتُمْ لَا نَشْتَرِي بِهِ ثَمَنًا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ ۙ وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَادَةَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا إِذًا لَمِنَ الْآثِمِينَ
*Enyi mlio amini! Yanapo mfikia mauti mmoja wenu na akataka kutoa wasia, basi wawepo mashahidi wawili miongoni mwenu ambao ni waadilifu. Na mnapo kuwa safarini, na msiba wa mauti ukakusibuni, basi washuhudie wengineo wawili wasio kuwa katika nyinyi. Mtawazuia wawili hao baada ya Sala na waape kwa Mwenyezi Mungu, mkitilia shaka, wakisema: Hatutopokea thamani yoyote kwa haya hata kwa ajili ya jamaa; na wala hatutaficha ushahidi wa Mwenyezi Mungu; hakika hapo tutakuwa miongoni mwa wenye dhambi.
*O you who have faith! The witness between you, when death approaches any of you, while making a bequest, shall be two just men from among yourselves, or two from among others if you are journeying in the land and the affliction of death visits you. You shall detain the two of them after the prayer, and, if you have any doubt, they shall vow by God, ‘We will not sell it for any gain, even if it were a relative, nor will we conceal the testimony of God, for then we would be among the sinners.’
5:107
فَإِنْ عُثِرَ عَلَىٰ أَنَّهُمَا اسْتَحَقَّا إِثْمًا فَآخَرَانِ يَقُومَانِ مَقَامَهُمَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَوْلَيَانِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِاللَّهِ لَشَهَادَتُنَا أَحَقُّ مِنْ شَهَادَتِهِمَا وَمَا اعْتَدَيْنَا إِنَّا إِذًا لَمِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
*Ikigundulikana kuwa wawili hao wamestahiki dhambi, basi wawili wengineo kutokana na warithi wenye kudai haki washike makamo ya wa mwanzo. Nao waape kwa Mwenyezi Mungu wakisema: Hakika ushahidi wetu ni wa haki zaidi kuliko ushahidi wa wale. Na sisi hatujafanya dhambi; hakika hapo tutakuwa miongoni mwa walio dhulumu.
*But if it is found that both of them were guilty of sin, then two others shall stand up in their place from among those nearest in kinship to the claimants and swear by God: ‘Our testimony is truer than their testimony, and we have not transgressed, for then we would be among the wrongdoers.’
5:108
ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰ أَنْ يَأْتُوا بِالشَّهَادَةِ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهَا أَوْ يَخَافُوا أَنْ تُرَدَّ أَيْمَانٌ بَعْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ ۗ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَاسْمَعُوا ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِينَ
*Hivi inaelekea zaidi ya kwamba watatoa ushahidi ulio sawa au wataogopa visije vikaletwa viapo vingine baada ya viapo vyao. Na mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu na msikie. Na hakika Mwenyezi Mungu hawaongoi wapotofu.
*That makes it likelier that they give the testimony in its genuine form, or fear that other oaths will be taken after their oaths. Be wary of God and listen, and God does not guide the transgressing lot.
5:109
يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ الرُّسُلَ فَيَقُولُ مَاذَا أُجِبْتُمْ ۖ قَالُوا لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ
*Ile siku ambayo Mwenyezi Mungu atapo wakusanya Mitume awaambie: Mlijibiwa nini? Watasema: Hatuna ujuzi; hakika Wewe ndiye Mjuzi Mkubwa wa yote yaliyo fichikana.
*The day God will gather the apostles and say, ‘What was the response given to you?’ They will say, ‘We have no knowledge. You know best indeed all that is Unseen.’
5:110
إِذْ قَالَ اللَّهُ يَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ اذْكُرْ نِعْمَتِي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَتِكَ إِذْ أَيَّدْتُكَ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ تُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِي الْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلًا ۖ وَإِذْ عَلَّمْتُكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَالتَّوْرَاةَ وَالْإِنْجِيلَ ۖ وَإِذْ تَخْلُقُ مِنَ الطِّينِ كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ بِإِذْنِي فَتَنْفُخُ فِيهَا فَتَكُونُ طَيْرًا بِإِذْنِي ۖ وَتُبْرِئُ الْأَكْمَهَ وَالْأَبْرَصَ بِإِذْنِي ۖ وَإِذْ تُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتَىٰ بِإِذْنِي ۖ وَإِذْ كَفَفْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْكَ إِذْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ
*Na pale Mwenyezi Mungu atapo sema: Ewe Isa bin Maryamu! Kumbuka neema yangu juu yako, na juu ya mama yako, nilipo kutia nguvu kwa Roho Takatifu, ukazungumza na watu katika utoto na utuuzimani. Na nilivyo kufunza kuandika na hikima na Taurati na Injili. Na ulipo tengeneza udongo sura ya ndege, kwa idhini yangu, kisha ukapuliza ikawa ndege kwa idhini yangu; na ulipo waponesha vipofu na wakoma kwa idhini yangu; na ulipo wafufua wafu kwa idhini yangu; na nilipo kukinga na Wana wa Israili ulipo wajia na hoja zilizo wazi, na wakasema walio kufuru miongoni mwao: Haya si lolote ila ni uchawi mtupu!
*When God will say, O Jesus son of Mary, remember My blessing upon you and upon your mother, when I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, so you would speak to the people in the cradle and in adulthood, and when I taught you the Book and wisdom, the Torah and the Evangel, and when you would create from clay the form of a bird with My leave, and you would breathe into it and it would become a bird with My leave, and you would heal the blind and the leper with My leave, and you would raise the dead with My leave; and when I held back the Children of Israel from you when you brought them manifest proofs, whereat the faithless among them said, ‘This is nothing but plain magic.’
5:111
وَإِذْ أَوْحَيْتُ إِلَى الْحَوَارِيِّينَ أَنْ آمِنُوا بِي وَبِرَسُولِي قَالُوا آمَنَّا وَاشْهَدْ بِأَنَّنَا مُسْلِمُونَ
*Na nilipo wafunulia Wanafunzi kwamba waniamini Mimi na Mtume wangu, wakasema: Tumeamini na shuhudia kuwa sisi ni Waislamu.
*And when I inspired the Disciples, saying, ‘Have faith in Me and My apostle,’ they said, ‘We have faith. Be witness that we have submitted to God.’
5:112
إِذْ قَالَ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ يَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ هَلْ يَسْتَطِيعُ رَبُّكَ أَنْ يُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ۖ قَالَ اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
*Wanafunzi walipo sema: Ewe Isa bin Maryamu! Je, Mola wako Mlezi anaweza kututeremshia chakula kutoka mbinguni? Akasema: Mcheni Mwenyezi Mungu ikiwa nyinyi ni Waumini.
*When the Disciples said, ‘O Jesus son of Mary! Can your Lord send down to us a table from the sky?’ Said he, ‘Be wary of God, if you be faithful.’
5:113
قَالُوا نُرِيدُ أَنْ نَأْكُلَ مِنْهَا وَتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا وَنَعْلَمَ أَنْ قَدْ صَدَقْتَنَا وَنَكُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
*Wakasema: Tunataka kukila chakula hicho, na nyoyo zetu zitue, na tujue kwamba umetuambia kweli, na tuwe miongoni mwa wanao shuhudia.
*They said, ‘We desire to eat from it, and our hearts will be at rest: we shall know that you have told us the truth, and we will be among witnesses to it.’
5:114
قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَائِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيدًا لِأَوَّلِنَا وَآخِرِنَا وَآيَةً مِنْكَ ۖ وَارْزُقْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ
*Akasema Isa bin Maryamu: Ewe Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola Mlezi wetu! Tuteremshia chakula kutoka mbinguni ili kiwe Sikukuu kwa ajili ya wa mwanzo wetu na wa mwisho wetu, na kiwe ni Ishara itokayo kwako. Basi turuzuku, kwani Wewe ndiye mbora wa wanao ruzuku.
*Said Jesus son of Mary, ‘O God! Our Lord! Send down to us a table from the heaven, to be a festival for us, for the first ones among us and the last ones and as a sign from You, and provide for us; for You are the best of providers.’
5:115
قَالَ اللَّهُ إِنِّي مُنَزِّلُهَا عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بَعْدُ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنِّي أُعَذِّبُهُ عَذَابًا لَا أُعَذِّبُهُ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ
*Mwenyezi Mungu akasema: Hakika Mimi nitakuteremshieni hicho. Lakini yeyote katika nyinyi atakaye kanya baadae, basi hakika Mimi nitampa adhabu nisiyopata kumpa yeyote katika walimwengu.
*God said, ‘I will indeed send it down to you. But should any of you disbelieve after this, I will indeed punish him with a punishment such as I do not punish anyone in all creation.’
5:116
وَإِذْ قَالَ اللَّهُ يَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ أَأَنْتَ قُلْتَ لِلنَّاسِ اتَّخِذُونِي وَأُمِّيَ إِلَٰهَيْنِ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ ۖ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِي أَنْ أَقُولَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِحَقٍّ ۚ إِنْ كُنْتُ قُلْتُهُ فَقَدْ عَلِمْتَهُ ۚ تَعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي وَلَا أَعْلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِكَ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ
*Na pale Mwenyezi Mungu atakapo sema: Ewe Isa bin Maryamu! Ati wewe uliwaambia watu: Nifanyeni mimi na mama yangu kuwa ni miungu badala ya Mwenyezi Mungu? (Na Isa) atasema: Subhanaka, Wewe umetakasika! Hainifalii mimi kusema ambayo si haki yangu. Ikiwa nilisema basi bila ya shaka umekwisha yajua. Wewe unayajua yaliyo ndani ya nafsi yangu, lakini mimi siyajui yaliyo katika nafsi yako. Hakika Wewe ndiye Mjuzi mkubwa wa yaliyo fichikana.
*And when God will say, ‘O Jesus son of Mary! Was it you who said to the people, ‘‘Take me and my mother for gods besides God’’?’ He will say, ‘Immaculate are You! It does not behoove me to say what I have no right to. Had I said it, You would certainly have known it: You know whatever is in my self, and I do not know what is in Your Self. Indeed, You know best all that is Unseen.
5:117
مَا قُلْتُ لَهُمْ إِلَّا مَا أَمَرْتَنِي بِهِ أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمْ ۚ وَكُنْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا مَا دُمْتُ فِيهِمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنِي كُنْتَ أَنْتَ الرَّقِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَأَنْتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
*Sikuwaambia lolote ila uliyo niamrisha, nayo ni: Muabuduni Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola wangu Mlezi na Mola wenu Mlezi. Na mimi nilikuwa shahidi juu yao nilipo kuwa nao. Na ulipo nifisha ukawa Wewe ndiye Muangalizi juu yao. Na Wewe ni shahidi juu ya kila kitu.
*I did not say to them anything except what You had commanded me to say: ‘‘Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.’’ And I was a witness to them so long as I was among them. But when You had taken me away, You Yourself were watchful over them, and You are witness to all things.
5:118
إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ ۖ وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
*Ukiwaadhibu basi hao ni waja wako. Na ukiwasamehe basi Wewe ndiye Mwenye nguvu na Mwenye hikima.
*If You punish them, they are indeed Your servants; but if You forgive them, You are indeed the All-mighty, the All-wise.’
5:119
قَالَ اللَّهُ هَٰذَا يَوْمُ يَنْفَعُ الصَّادِقِينَ صِدْقُهُمْ ۚ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۚ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
*Mwenyezi Mungu atasema: Hii ndiyo Siku ambayo wasemao kweli utawafaa ukweli wao. Wao watapata Bustani zipitazo mito kati yake. Humo watadumu milele. Mwenyezi Mungu amewawia radhi, nao wawe radhi naye. Huku ndiko kufuzu kukubwa.
*God will say, ‘This day truthfulness shall benefit the truthful. For them there will be gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them forever. God is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him. That is a great success.’
5:120
لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
*Mwenyezi Mungu ndiye Mwenye ufalme wa mbingu na ardhi na vilivyomo. Naye ni Muweza wa kila kitu.
*To God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever there is in them, and He has power over all things.
