Sura 17 - Al-Israa

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Kwa Jina La Mwenyezi Mungu, Mwingi Wa Rehema, Mwenye Kurehemu.
17:1
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
*SUBHANA, Ametakasika aliye mchukua mja wake usiku mmoja kutoka Msikiti Mtukufu mpaka Msikiti wa Mbali, ambao tumevibariki vilivyo uzunguka, ili tumuonyeshe baadhi ya Ishara zetu. Hakika Yeye ni Mwenye kusikia na Mwenye kuona.
*Immaculate is He who carried His servant on a journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose environs We have blessed, that We might show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He is the All-hearing, the All-seeing.
17:2
وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ هُدًى لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُوا مِنْ دُونِي وَكِيلًا
*Na tukampa Musa Kitabu, na tukakifanya uwongofu kwa Wana wa Israili. (Tukawambia): Msiwe na mtegemewa ila Mimi!
*We gave Moses the Book, and made it a guide for the Children of Israel—[saying,] ‘Do not take any trustee besides Me’—
17:3
ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا
*Enyi kizazi tuliyo wachukua pamoja na Nuhu! Hakika yeye alikuwa mja mwenye shukrani.
*descendants of those whom We carried [in the ark] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.
17:4
وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
*Na tukawahukumia Wana wa Israili katika Kitabu kwamba: Hakika nyinyi mtafanya fisadi katika nchi mara mbili, na kwa yakini mtapanda kiburi, kiburi kikubwa.
*We revealed to the Children of Israel in the Book: ‘Twice you will cause corruption on the earth, and you will perpetrate great tyranny.’
17:5
فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ أُولَاهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادًا لَنَا أُولِي بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ فَجَاسُوا خِلَالَ الدِّيَارِ ۚ وَكَانَ وَعْدًا مَفْعُولًا
*Basi itapo fika ahadi ya kwanza yake tutakupelekeeni waja wetu wa kali kwa vita. Watakuingilieni ndani ya majumba. Na hii ilikuwa ahadi iliyo timizwa.
*So when the first occasion of the two [prophecies] came, We aroused against you Our servants possessing great might, and they ransacked [your] habitations, and the promise was bound to be fulfilled.
17:6
ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ الْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَاكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا
*Kisha tukakurudishieni nguvu zenu dhidi yao, na tukakusaidieni kwa mali na wana, na tukakujaalieni mkawa wengi zaidi.
*Then We gave you back the turn [to prevail] over them, and We aided you with children and wealth, and made you greater in number,
17:7
إِنْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ لِأَنْفُسِكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا ۚ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ لِيَسُوءُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا مَا عَلَوْا تَتْبِيرًا
*Basi mkifanya wema, mnajifanyia wema nafsi zenu. Na mkifanya ubaya, mnajifanyia wenyewe. Na ikifika ahadi ya mwisho ili waziharibu nyuso zenu, na waingie Msikitini kama walivyo ingia mara ya kwanza, na waharibu kila walicho kiteka kwa uharibifu mkubwa.
*[saying,] ‘If you do good, you will do good to your [own] souls, and if you do evil, it will be [evil] for them.’ So when the occasion for the other [prophecy] comes, they will make your faces wretched, and enter the Temple just as they entered it the first time, and destroy utterly whatever they come upon.
17:8
عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَنْ يَرْحَمَكُمْ ۚ وَإِنْ عُدْتُمْ عُدْنَا ۘ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ حَصِيرًا
*Huenda Mola wenu Mlezi akakurehemuni. Na mkirudia na Sisi tutarudia. Na tumeifanya Jahannamu kuwa ni gereza kwa ajili ya makafiri.
*Maybe your Lord will have mercy on you, but if you revert, We [too] will revert, and We have made hell a prison for the faithless.
17:9
إِنَّ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَبِيرًا
*Hakika hii Qur´ani inaongoa kwenye ya yaliyo nyooka kabisa, na inawabashiria Waumini ambao wanatenda mema ya kwamba watapata malipo makubwa.
*Indeed this Quran guides to what is most upright, and gives the good news to the faithful who do righteous deeds that there is a great reward for them.
17:10
وَأَنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
*Na yakwamba wale wasio iamini Akhera tumewaandalia adhabu chungu.
*As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have prepared a painful punishment for them.
17:11
وَيَدْعُ الْإِنْسَانُ بِالشَّرِّ دُعَاءَهُ بِالْخَيْرِ ۖ وَكَانَ الْإِنْسَانُ عَجُولًا
*Na mwanaadamu huomba shari kama vile aombavyo kheri, kwani mwanaadamu ni mwenye pupa.
*Man prays for ill as [avidly as] he prays for good, and man is overhasty.
17:12
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ آيَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَا آيَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَا آيَةَ النَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةً لِتَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا عَدَدَ السِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ تَفْصِيلًا
*Na tumefanya usiku na mchana kuwa ishara mbili. Tena tukaifuta ishara ya usiku, na tukaifanya ishara ya mchana ni yenye mwangaza ili mtafute fadhila itokayo kwa Mola wenu Mlezi, na mpate kujua idadi ya miaka na hisabu. Na kila kitu tumekifafanua waziwazi.
*We made the night and the day two signs. Then We faded out the sign of the night, and made the sign of the day lightsome, so that you may seek from your Lord’s bounty and that you may know the number of years and calculation [of time], and We have elaborated everything in detail.
17:13
وَكُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ طَائِرَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كِتَابًا يَلْقَاهُ مَنْشُورًا
*Na kila mtu tumemfungia a´mali yake shingoni mwake. Na Siku ya Kiyama tutamtolea kitabu atakacho kikuta kiwazi kimekunjuliwa.
*We have attached every person’s omen to his neck, and We shall bring it out for him on the Day of Resurrection as a book that he will find wide open.
17:14
اقْرَأْ كِتَابَكَ كَفَىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا
*Ataambiwa: Soma kitabu chako! Nafsi yako inakutosha leo kukuhisabu.
*‘Read your book! Today your soul suffices as your own reckoner.’
17:15
مَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِي لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولًا
*Anaye ongoka basi anaongoka kwa ajili ya nafsi yake. Na anaye potea basi anapotea kwa khasara yake mwenyewe. Wala habebi mbebaji mzigo wa mwengine. Wala Sisi hatuadhibu mpaka tumpeleke Mtume.
*Whoever is guided is guided only for [the good of] his own soul, and whoever goes astray, goes astray only to its detriment. No bearer shall bear another’s burden. We do not punish [any community] until We have sent [it] an apostle.
17:16
وَإِذَا أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نُهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا الْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا تَدْمِيرًا
*Na pindi tukitaka kuuteketeza mji huwaamrisha wale wenye starehe na taanusi, lakini wao huendelea kutenda maovu humo. Basi hapo kauli huthibiti juu ya mji huo, nasi tukauangamiza kwa maangamizo makubwa.
*And when We desire to destroy a town We command its affluent ones [to obey Allah]. But they commit transgression in it, and so the word becomes due against it, and We destroy it utterly.
17:17
وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِنْ بَعْدِ نُوحٍ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا
*Na kaumu ngapi tumeziangamiza baada ya Nuhu! Na Mola wako Mlezi anatosha kabisa kuwa ni Mwenye kuzijua na kuziona dhambi za waja wake.
*How many generations We have destroyed since Noah! Your Lord is sufficient as [a witness who is] well aware and percipient of His servants’ sins.
17:18
مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ فِيهَا مَا نَشَاءُ لِمَنْ نُرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَاهَا مَذْمُومًا مَدْحُورًا
*Anaye taka yapitayo upesi upesi, tutafanya haraka kumletea hapa hapa tunayo yataka kwa tumtakaye. Kisha tumemwekea Jahannamu; ataingia humo hali ya kuwa ni mwenye kulaumiwa na kufurushwa.
*Whoever desires this transitory life, We expedite for him therein whatever We wish, for whomever We desire. Then We appoint hell for him, to enter it, blameful and spurned.
17:19
وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْآخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُمْ مَشْكُورًا
*Na anaye itaka Akhera, na akazifanyia juhudi a´mali zake, naye ni Muumini, basi hao juhudi yao itakuwa ni ya kushukuriwa.
*Whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it with an endeavour worthy of it, should he be faithful,—the endeavour of such will be well-appreciated.
17:20
كُلًّا نُمِدُّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ وَهَٰؤُلَاءِ مِنْ عَطَاءِ رَبِّكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ عَطَاءُ رَبِّكَ مَحْظُورًا
*Wote hao tunawakunjulia - hawa na hao - katika neema za Mola wako Mlezi. Wala neema za Mola wako Mlezi hazizuiliki.
*To these and to those—to all We extend the bounty of your Lord, and the bounty of your Lord is not confined.
17:21
انْظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَلَلْآخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ دَرَجَاتٍ وَأَكْبَرُ تَفْضِيلًا
*Angalia vipi tulivyo wafadhili baadhi yao kuliko wenginewe. Na hakika Akhera ni yenye daraja kubwa zaidi na fadhila kubwa zaidi.
*Observe how We have given some of them an advantage over some others; yet the Hereafter is surely greater in respect of ranks and greater in respect of relative merit.
17:22
لَا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُومًا مَخْذُولًا
*Usimfanye mungu mwengine pamoja na Mwenyezi Mungu, usije ukawa wa kulaumiwa uliye tupika.
*Do not set up another god besides Allah, or you will sit blameworthy, forsaken.
17:23
وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا ۚ إِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِنْدَكَ الْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُلْ لَهُمَا أُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُلْ لَهُمَا قَوْلًا كَرِيمًا
*Na Mola wako Mlezi ameamrisha kuwa msimuabudu yeyote ila Yeye tu, na wazazi wawili muwatendee wema. Mmoja wao akifikia uzee, naye yuko kwako, au wote wawili, basi usimwambie hata: Ah! Wala usiwakemee. Na sema nao kwa msemo wa hishima.
*Your Lord has decreed that you shall not worship anyone except Him, and [He has enjoined] kindness to parents. Should any of them or both reach old age at your side, do not say to them, ‘Fie!’ And do not chide them, but speak to them noble words.
17:24
وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُلْ رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
*Na uwainamishie bawa la unyenyekevu kwa kuwaonea huruma. Na useme: Mola wangu Mlezi! Warehemu kama walivyo nilea utotoni.
*Lower the wing of humility to them, mercifully, and say, ‘My Lord! Have mercy on them, just as they reared me when I was [a] small [child]!’
17:25
رَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِي نُفُوسِكُمْ ۚ إِنْ تَكُونُوا صَالِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ لِلْأَوَّابِينَ غَفُورًا
*Mola wenu anajua kabisa yaliyo nyoyoni mwenu. Ikiwa nyinyi mtakuwa wema, basi hakika Yeye ni Mwenye kuwaghufiria wanao tubia kwake.
*Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts. Should you be righteous, He is indeed most forgiving toward penitents.
17:26
وَآتِ ذَا الْقُرْبَىٰ حَقَّهُ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيلِ وَلَا تُبَذِّرْ تَبْذِيرًا
*Na mpe aliye jamaa yako haki yake, na masikini, na msafiri; wala usitumie ovyo kwa fujo.
*Give the relatives their [due] right, and the needy and the traveller [as well], but do not squander wastefully.
17:27
إِنَّ الْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوا إِخْوَانَ الشَّيَاطِينِ ۖ وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِرَبِّهِ كَفُورًا
*Hakika wabadhirifu ni ndugu wa Mashet´ani. Na Shet´ani ni mwenye kumkufuru Mola wake Mlezi.
*Indeed the wasteful are brothers of satans, and Satan is ungrateful to his Lord.
17:28
وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ ابْتِغَاءَ رَحْمَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُلْ لَهُمْ قَوْلًا مَيْسُورًا
*Na ikiwa unajikurupusha nao, nawe unatafuta rehema ya Mola wako Mlezi unayo itaraji, basi sema nao maneno laini.
*And if you have to hold off from [assisting] them [for now], seeking your Lord’s mercy which you expect [in the future], speak to them gentle words.
17:29
وَلَا تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ الْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُومًا مَحْسُورًا
*Wala usiufanye mkono wako kama ulio fungwa shingoni mwako, wala usiukunjue wote kabisa, utabaki ukilaumiwa muflisi.
*Do not keep your hand chained to your neck, nor open it altogether, or you will sit blameworthy and regretful.
17:30
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا
*Hakika Mola wako Mlezi humkunjulia riziki amtakaye, na humpimia amtakaye. Hakika Yeye kwa waja wake ni Mwenye kuwajua na kuwaona.
*Indeed your Lord expands the provision for whomever He wishes, and tightens it. Indeed, He is well aware of His servants and a keen observer.
17:31
وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ خَشْيَةَ إِمْلَاقٍ ۖ نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُهُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ كَانَ خِطْئًا كَبِيرًا
*Wala msiwauwe wana wenu kwa kuogopa umasikini. Sisi tunawaruzuku wao na nyinyi. Hakika kuwaua hao ni khatia kubwa.
*Do not kill your children for the fear of penury: We will provide for them and for you. Killing them is indeed a great iniquity.
17:32
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا الزِّنَا ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَاحِشَةً وَسَاءَ سَبِيلًا
*Wala msikaribie uzinzi. Hakika huo ni uchafu na njia mbaya.
*Do not approach fornication. It is indeed an indecency and an evil way.
17:33
وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَمَنْ قُتِلَ مَظْلُومًا فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِ سُلْطَانًا فَلَا يُسْرِفْ فِي الْقَتْلِ ۖ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مَنْصُورًا
*Wala msiuwe nafsi ambayo Mwenyezi Mungu amekataza isipo kuwa kwa haki. Na aliye uliwa kwa kudhulumiwa basi tumempa madaraka mrithi wake. Lakini asipite mpaka katika kuuwa. Kwani yeye anasaidiwa.
*Do not kill a soul [whose life] Allah has made inviolable, except with due cause, and whoever is killed wrongfully, We have certainly given his heir an authority. But let him not commit any excess in killing [the murderer], for he has been assisted [by law].
17:34
وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا مَالَ الْيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُ ۚ وَأَوْفُوا بِالْعَهْدِ ۖ إِنَّ الْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْئُولًا
*Wala msiyakaribie mali ya yatima, isipo kuwa kwa njia iliyo bora, mpaka afike utuuzimani. Na timizeni ahadi. Kwa hakika ahadi itasailiwa.
*Do not approach the orphan’s property except in the best manner, until he comes of age. Fulfill the covenants; indeed all covenants are accountable.
17:35
وَأَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ إِذَا كِلْتُمْ وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا
*Na timizeni kipimo mpimapo. Na pimeni kwa mizani zilizo sawa. Hayo ni wema kwenu na khatimaye ndio bora.
*When you measure, observe fully the measure, [and] weigh with an even balance. That is better and more favourable with respect to the outcome [in the Hereafter].
17:36
وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۚ إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا
*Wala usiyafuate usiyo na ujuzi nayo. Hakika masikio, na macho, na moyo - hivyo vyote vitasailiwa.
*Do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed hearing, eyesight, and the heart—all of these are accountable.
17:37
وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَخْرِقَ الْأَرْضَ وَلَنْ تَبْلُغَ الْجِبَالَ طُولًا
*Wala usitembee katika ardhi kwa maringo. Hakika wewe huwezi kuipasua ardhi wala kufikia urefu wa milima.
*Do not walk exultantly on the earth. Indeed, you will neither pierce the earth, nor reach the mountains in height.
17:38
كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ كَانَ سَيِّئُهُ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ مَكْرُوهًا
*Haya yote ubaya wake ni wenye kuchukiza kwa Mola wako Mlezi.
*The evil of all these is detestable to your Lord.
17:39
ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّا أَوْحَىٰ إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ الْحِكْمَةِ ۗ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَتُلْقَىٰ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومًا مَدْحُورًا
*Haya ni katika hikima alizo kufunulia Mola wako Mlezi. Wala usimweke pamoja na Mwenyezi Mungu mungu mwengine, usije ukatupwa katika Jahannamu ukilaumiwa na kufurushwa.
*These are among [precepts] that your Lord has revealed to you of wisdom. Do not set up another god besides Allah, or you will be cast into hell, being blameworthy and banished [from His mercy].
17:40
أَفَأَصْفَاكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ بِالْبَنِينَ وَاتَّخَذَ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنَاثًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَقُولُونَ قَوْلًا عَظِيمًا
*Je! Mola wenu Mlezi amekuteulieni wavulana, na Yeye akawafanya Malaika ni banati zake? Kwa hakika nyinyi mnasema usemi mkubwa.
*Did your Lord prefer you for sons, and [Himself] adopt females from among the angels? Indeed, you say a monstrous word!
17:41
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِي هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا وَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا نُفُورًا
*Na tumekwisha bainisha katika Qur´ani hii ili wapate kukumbuka. Lakini haikuwazidisha ila kuwa mbali nayo.
*Certainly We have variously paraphrased [the principles of guidance] in this Quran so that they may take admonition, but it increases them only in aversion.
17:42
قُلْ لَوْ كَانَ مَعَهُ آلِهَةٌ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذًا لَابْتَغَوْا إِلَىٰ ذِي الْعَرْشِ سَبِيلًا
*Sema: Lau kuwa wangeli kuwa pamoja naye miungu mingine kama wasemavyo, basi wangeli tafuta njia ya kumfikia Mwenye Kiti cha Enzi.
*Say, ‘Were there [other] gods besides Him, as they say, they would surely have encroached on the Lord of the Throne.
17:43
سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىٰ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
*Subhanahu Wa Taa´la, Ametakasika na Ametukuka juu kabisa na hayo wanayo yasema.
*Immaculate is He, and greatly exalted above what they say!’
17:44
تُسَبِّحُ لَهُ السَّمَاوَاتُ السَّبْعُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ ۚ وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّهُ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا
*Zinamtakasa zote mbingu saba na ardhi na vyote viliomo ndani yake. Na hapana kitu ila kinamtakasa kwa sifa zake. Lakini nyinyi hamfahamu kutakasa kwake. Hakika Yeye ni Mpole na Mwenye maghfira.
*The seven heavens glorify Him, and the earth [too], and whoever is in them. There is not a thing but celebrates His praise, but you do not understand their glorification. Indeed, He is all-forbearing, all-forgiving.
17:45
وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ حِجَابًا مَسْتُورًا
*Na unapo soma Qur´ani tunaweka baina yako na wale wasio iamini Akhera pazia linalo wafunika.
*When you recite the Quran, We draw a hidden curtain between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter,
17:46
وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَنْ يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ وَحْدَهُ وَلَّوْا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهِمْ نُفُورًا
*Na tunaweka vifuniko juu ya nyoyo zao wasije wakaifahamu, na tunaweka kwenye masikio yao uziwi. Na unapo mtaja katika Qur´ani Mola wako Mlezi peke yake, basi wao hugeuka nyuma wakenda zao.
*and We cast veils on their hearts, lest they should understand it, and a deafness into their ears. When you mention your Lord alone in the Quran, they turn their backs in aversion.
17:47
نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَسْتَمِعُونَ بِهِ إِذْ يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِذْ هُمْ نَجْوَىٰ إِذْ يَقُولُ الظَّالِمُونَ إِنْ تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مَسْحُورًا
*Sisi tunajua vyema kabisa sababu wanayo sikilizia wanapo kusikiliza, na wanapo nong´ona. Wanapo sema hao madhaalimu: Nyinyi hamumfuati isipo kuwa mtu aliye rogwa.
*We know best what they listen for, when they listen to you, and when they hold their secret talks, when the wrongdoers say, ‘[If you follow him] You will be following just a bewitched man.’
17:48
انْظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُوا لَكَ الْأَمْثَالَ فَضَلُّوا فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلًا
*Tazama vipi wanavyo kupigia mifano. Basi wamepotea. Kwa hivyo hawawezi kuipata njia.
*Look, how they coin epithets for you; so they go astray, and cannot find a way.
17:49
وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
*Na walisema: Je! Tutapo kuwa mifupa na mapande yaliyo vurugika, tutafufuliwa kwa umbo jipya?
*They say, ‘What, when we have become bones and dust, shall we really be raised in a new creation?’
17:50
قُلْ كُونُوا حِجَارَةً أَوْ حَدِيدًا
*Sema: Kuweni hata mawe na chuma.
*Say, ‘[That is bound to happen] even if you should become stones, or iron,
17:51
أَوْ خَلْقًا مِمَّا يَكْبُرُ فِي صُدُورِكُمْ ۚ فَسَيَقُولُونَ مَنْ يُعِيدُنَا ۖ قُلِ الَّذِي فَطَرَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۚ فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ إِلَيْكَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هُوَ ۖ قُلْ عَسَىٰ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَرِيبًا
*Au umbo lolote mnalo liona kubwa katika vifua vyenu. Watasema: Nani atakaye turudisha tena? Sema: Yule yule aliye kuumbeni mara ya kwanza! Watakutikisia vichwa vyao, na watasema: Lini hayo? Sema: A´saa yakawa karibu!
*or a creature more fantastic to your minds!’ They will say, ‘Who will bring us back?’ Say, ‘He who originated you the first time.’ They will nod their heads at you, and say, ‘When will that be?’ Say, ‘Maybe it is near!
17:52
يَوْمَ يَدْعُوكُمْ فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ بِحَمْدِهِ وَتَظُنُّونَ إِنْ لَبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
*Siku atakapo kuiteni, na nyinyi mkamuitikia kwa kumshukuru, na mkadhani kuwa hamkukaa ila muda mdogo tu.
*The day He calls you, you will respond to Him, praising Him, and you will think you remained [in the world] only for a little while.’
17:53
وَقُلْ لِعِبَادِي يَقُولُوا الَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ ۚ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَنْزَغُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ كَانَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ عَدُوًّا مُبِينًا
*Waambie waja wangu waseme maneno mazuri, maana Shet´ani huchochea ugomvi baina yao. Hakika Shet´ani ni adui aliye dhaahiri kwa mwanaadamu.
*Tell My servants to speak in a manner which is the best. Indeed Satan incites ill feeling between them, and Satan is indeed man’s manifest enemy.
17:54
رَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ ۖ إِنْ يَشَأْ يَرْحَمْكُمْ أَوْ إِنْ يَشَأْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ ۚ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا
*Mola wenu Mlezi anakujueni vilivyo. Akipenda atakurehemuni, na akipenda atakuadhibuni. Na hatukukutuma ili uwe mlinzi juu yao.
*Your Lord knows you best. He will have mercy on you if He wishes, or punish you, if He wishes, and We did not send you to watch over them.
17:55
وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۗ وَلَقَدْ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَ النَّبِيِّينَ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۖ وَآتَيْنَا دَاوُودَ زَبُورًا
*Na Mola wako Mlezi anawajua vilivyo waliomo mbinguni na katika ardhi. Na hakika tumewafadhilisha baadhi ya Manabii kuliko wengine; na Daudi tulimpa Zaburi.
*Your Lord knows best whoever is in the heavens and the earth. Certainly, We gave some prophets an advantage over the others, and We gave David the Psalms.
17:56
قُلِ ادْعُوا الَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ مِنْ دُونِهِ فَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ كَشْفَ الضُّرِّ عَنْكُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِيلًا
*Sema: Waombeni hao mnao wadaia badala yake Yeye. Hawawezi kukuondoleeni madhara, wala kuyaweka pengine.
*Say, ‘Invoke those whom you claim [to be gods] besides Him. They have no power to remove your distress, nor to bring about any change [in your state].
17:57
أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُ ۚ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُورًا
*Hao wanao waomba, wao wenyewe wanatafuta njia ya kwendea kwa Mola wao Mlezi - hata miongoni mwao walio karibu mno - na wanataraji rehema zake na wanaikhofu adhabu yake. Hakika adhabu ya Mola wako Mlezi yafaa kutahadhari nayo.
*They [themselves] are the ones who supplicate, seeking a recourse to their Lord, whoever is nearer [to Him], expecting His mercy and fearing His punishment.’ Indeed your Lord’s punishment is a thing to beware of.
17:58
وَإِنْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۚ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا
*Na hapana mji wowote ila Sisi tutauteketeza kabla ya Siku ya Kiyama, au tutaupa adhabu kali. Haya yamekwisha andikwa katika Kitabu.
*There is not a town but We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection, or punish it with a severe punishment. That has been written in the Book.
17:59
وَمَا مَنَعَنَا أَنْ نُرْسِلَ بِالْآيَاتِ إِلَّا أَنْ كَذَّبَ بِهَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ۚ وَآتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ النَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا ۚ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِالْآيَاتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفًا
*Na hapana kinacho tuzuia kupeleka miujiza ila ni kuwa watu wa zamani waliikanusha. Na tuliwapa Wathamudi ngamia jike kuwa ni Ishara iliyo dhaahiri, lakini walidhulumu kwaye. Nasi hatupeleki Ishara ila kwa ajili ya kuhadharisha.
*Nothing keeps Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. We gave Thamud the she-camel as an eye-opener, but they wronged her. We do not send the signs except as warning.
17:60
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لَكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ أَحَاطَ بِالنَّاسِ ۚ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّؤْيَا الَّتِي أَرَيْنَاكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلنَّاسِ وَالشَّجَرَةَ الْمَلْعُونَةَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ ۚ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ فَمَا يَزِيدُهُمْ إِلَّا طُغْيَانًا كَبِيرًا
*Na tulipo kwambia: Hakika Mola wako Mlezi amekwisha wazunguka hao watu. Na hatukuifanya ndoto tulio kuonyesha ila ni kuwajaribu watu, na mti ulio laaniwa katika Qur´ani. Na tunawahadharisha, lakini haiwazidishii ila uasi mkubwa.
*When We said to you, ‘Indeed your Lord encircles those people,’ We did not appoint the vision that We showed you except as a tribulation for the people and the tree cursed in the Quran. We warn them, but it only increases them in their outrageous rebellion.
17:61
وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ قَالَ أَأَسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِينًا
*Na pale tulipo waambia Malaika: Msujudieni Adam. Wakamsujudia isipo kuwa Iblisi. Akasema: Je! Nimsujudie uliye muumba kwa udongo?
*When We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate before Adam,’ they [all] prostrated, but not Iblis: he said, ‘Shall I prostrate before someone whom You have created from clay?’
17:62
قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَكَ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كَرَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
*Akasema: Hebu nambie khabari ya huyu uliye mtukuza juu yangu. Ukiniakhirisha mpaka Siku ya Kiyama, hapana shaka nitawaangamiza dhuriya zake wasipo kuwa wachache tu.
*Said he, ‘Do You see this one whom You have honoured above me? If You respite me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely lay my yoke on his progeny, [all] except a few.’
17:63
قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَمَنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ جَزَاؤُكُمْ جَزَاءً مَوْفُورًا
*Akasema Mwenyezi Mungu: Ondokelea mbali! Atakaye kufuata katika wao, basi Jahannamu itakuwa ndiyo malipo yenu, malipo ya kutimia.
*Said He, ‘Begone! Whoever of them follows you, indeed the hell shall be your requital, an ample reward.
17:64
وَاسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُمْ بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ وَعِدْهُمْ ۚ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا
*Na wachochee uwawezao katika wao kwa sauti yako, na wakusanyie jeshi lako la wapandao farasi na waendao kwa miguu. Na shirikiana nao katika mali na wana, na waahidi. Na Shet´ani hawapi ahadi ila ya udanganyifu.
*Instigate whomever of them you can with your voice; and rally against them your cavalry and your infantry, and share with them in wealth and children, and make promises to them!’ But Satan promises them nothing but delusion.
17:65
إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ وَكِيلًا
*Hakika wewe huna mamlaka juu ya waja wangu. Na Mola wako Mlezi anatosha kuwa ni wa kutegemewa.
*‘As for My servants, you shall have no authority over them.’ And your Lord suffices as trustee.
17:66
رَبُّكُمُ الَّذِي يُزْجِي لَكُمُ الْفُلْكَ فِي الْبَحْرِ لِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا
*Mola wenu Mlezi ndiye anaye kuendesheeni marikebu katika bahari ili mtafute katika fadhila zake. Hakika Yeye ni Mwenye kukurehemuni nyinyi.
*Your Lord is He who drives for you the ships in the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is most merciful to you.
17:67
وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ الضُّرُّ فِي الْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَنْ تَدْعُونَ إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ ۖ فَلَمَّا نَجَّاكُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ أَعْرَضْتُمْ ۚ وَكَانَ الْإِنْسَانُ كَفُورًا
*Na inapo kufikieni taabu katika bahari, hao mnao waomba wanapotea, isipo kuwa Yeye tu. Na anapo kuvueni mkafika nchi kavu, mnageuka. Ama mwanaadamu ni mwingi wa kukanusha.
*When distress befalls you at sea, those whom you invoke besides Him are forsaken. But when He delivers you to land, you are disregardful [of Him]. Man is very ungrateful.
17:68
أَفَأَمِنْتُمْ أَنْ يَخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ الْبَرِّ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا لَكُمْ وَكِيلًا
*Je! Mmeaminisha ya kuwa hatakudidimizeni upande wowote katika nchi kavu, au kwamba hatakuleteeni tufani la kokoto? Kisha msipate wa kumtegemea.
*Do you feel secure that He will not make the coastland swallow you, or He will not unleash upon you a rain of stones? Then you will not find any defender for yourselves.
17:69
أَمْ أَمِنْتُمْ أَنْ يُعِيدَكُمْ فِيهِ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ فَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَاصِفًا مِنَ الرِّيحِ فَيُغْرِقَكُمْ بِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ ۙ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُوا لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا بِهِ تَبِيعًا
*Au mmeaminisha ya kuwa hatakurudisheni humo mara nyengine na kukupelekeeni kimbunga cha upepo akakuzamisheni kwa mlivyo kufuru, na kisha msipate wa kukunusuruni nasi.
*Do you feel secure that He will not send you back into it another time and unleash against you a shattering gale and drown you because of your unfaith? Then you will not find for yourselves any redresser against Us.
17:70
وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ وَحَمَلْنَاهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًا
*Na hakika tumewatukuza wanaadamu, na tumewapa vya kupanda nchi kavu na baharini, na tumewaruzuku vitu vizuri vizuri, na tumewafadhilisha kwa fadhila kubwa kuliko wengi miongoni mwa tulio waumba.
*Certainly We have honoured the Children of Adam, and carried them over land and sea, and provided them with all the good things, and preferred them with a complete preference over many of those We have created.
17:71
يَوْمَ نَدْعُو كُلَّ أُنَاسٍ بِإِمَامِهِمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَأُولَٰئِكَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابَهُمْ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا
*Siku tutapo waita kila kikundi cha watu kwa mujibu wa wakifuatacho - basi atakaye pewa kitabu chake kwa mkono wake wa kulia, basi hao watasoma kitabu chao wala hawatadhulumiwa hata chembe.
*The day We shall summon every group of people along with their imam, then whoever is given his book in his right hand—they will read it, and they will not be wronged so much as a single date-thread.
17:72
وَمَنْ كَانَ فِي هَٰذِهِ أَعْمَىٰ فَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ أَعْمَىٰ وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
*Na aliye kuwa hapa kipofu, basi atakuwa kipofu Akhera, na atakuwa aliye ipotea zaidi Njia.
*But whoever has been blind in this [world], will be blind in the Hereafter, and [even] more astray from the [right] way.
17:73
وَإِنْ كَادُوا لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ الَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِيَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَهُ ۖ وَإِذًا لَاتَّخَذُوكَ خَلِيلًا
*Na hakika walikaribia kukushawishi uache tuliyo kufunulia ili utuzulie mengineyo. Na hapo ndio wangeli kufanya rafiki.
*They were about to beguile you from what Allah has revealed to you so that you may fabricate something other than that against Us, whereat they would have befriended you.
17:74
وَلَوْلَا أَنْ ثَبَّتْنَاكَ لَقَدْ كِدْتَ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَيْئًا قَلِيلًا
*Na lau kuwa hatukukuweka imara ungeli karibia kuwaelekea kidogo.
*And had We not fortified you, certainly you might have inclined toward them a bit.
17:75
إِذًا لَأَذَقْنَاكَ ضِعْفَ الْحَيَاةِ وَضِعْفَ الْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ عَلَيْنَا نَصِيرًا
*Hapo basi bila ya shaka tungeli kuonjesha adhabu mardufu ya uhai, na adhabu mardufu ya kifo. Kisha usinge pata mtu wa kukunusuru nasi.
*Then We would have surely made you taste a double [punishment] in this life and a double [punishment] after death, and then you would have not found for yourself any helper against Us.
17:76
وَإِنْ كَادُوا لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ لِيُخْرِجُوكَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَإِذًا لَا يَلْبَثُونَ خِلَافَكَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
*Na walitaka kukukera ili uitoke nchi. Na hapo wao wasingeli bakia humo ila kwa muda mchache tu.
*They were about to hound you out of the land, to expel you from it, but then they would not have stayed after you but a little.
17:77
سُنَّةَ مَنْ قَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنْ رُسُلِنَا ۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلًا
*Huo ndio mwendo kwa Mitume tulio watuma kabla yako. Wala hupati mabadiliko katika mwendo wetu.
*A precedent concerning those We have sent before you from among Our apostles, and you will not find any change in Our precedent.
17:78
أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِدُلُوكِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَىٰ غَسَقِ اللَّيْلِ وَقُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ ۖ إِنَّ قُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا
*Shika Sala jua linapo pinduka mpaka giza la usiku, na Qur´ani ya al fajiri. Hakika Qur´ani ya alfajiri inashuhudiwa daima.
*Maintain the prayer [during the period] from the sun’s decline till the darkness of the night, and [observe particularly] the dawn recital. Indeed the dawn recital is attended [by angels].
17:79
وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِ نَافِلَةً لَكَ عَسَىٰ أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا
*Na amka usiku kwa ibada; ni ziada ya sunna khasa kwako wewe. Huenda Mola wako Mlezi akakunyanyua cheo kinacho sifika.
*And keep vigil for a part of the night, as a supererogatory [devotion] for you. It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praiseworthy station.
17:80
وَقُلْ رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطَانًا نَصِيرًا
*Na sema: Mola wangu Mlezi! Niingize muingizo mwema, na unitoe kutoka kwema. Na unipe nguvu zinazo toka kwako zinisaidie.
*And say, ‘My Lord! ‘Admit me with a worthy entrance, and bring me out with a worthy departure, and render me a favourable authority from Yourself.’
17:81
وَقُلْ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ ۚ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا
*Na sema: Kweli imefika, na uwongo umetoweka. Hakika uwongo lazima utoweke!
*And say, ‘The truth has come, and falsehood has vanished. Indeed falsehood is bound to vanish.’
17:82
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ وَلَا يَزِيدُ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَارًا
*Na tunateremsha katika Qur´ani yaliyo ni matibabu na rehema kwa Waumini. Wala hayawazidishii madhaalimu ila khasara.
*We send down in the Quran that which is a cure and mercy for the faithful; and it increases the wrongdoers only in loss.
17:83
وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ ۖ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ كَانَ يَئُوسًا
*Na mwanaadamu tunapo mneemesha hugeuka na kujitenga kando. Na inapo mgusa shari hukata tamaa.
*When We bless man, he is disregardful and turns aside; but when an ill befalls him, he is despondent.
17:84
قُلْ كُلٌّ يَعْمَلُ عَلَىٰ شَاكِلَتِهِ فَرَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ سَبِيلًا
*Sema: Kila mmoja anafanya kwa namna yake. Na Mola wenu Mlezi anajua aliye ongoka katika njia.
*Say, ‘Everyone acts according to his character. Your Lord knows best who is better guided with regard to the way.’
17:85
وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي وَمَا أُوتِيتُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
*Na wanakuuliza khabari za Roho. Sema: Roho ni katika mambo ya Mola wangu Mlezi. Nanyi hamkupewa katika ilimu ila kidogo tu.
*They question you concerning the Spirit. Say, ‘The Spirit is of the command of my Lord, and you have not been given of the knowledge except a few [of you].’
17:86
وَلَئِنْ شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلًا
*Na tungeli penda tungeli yaondoa tuliyo kufunulia. Kisha usingeli pata mwakilishi wa kukupigania kwetu kwa haya.
*If We wish, We would take away what We have revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself any defender against Us,
17:87
إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ فَضْلَهُ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيرًا
*Isipo kuwa iwe rehema itokayo kwa Mola wako Mlezi. Hakika fadhila yake kwako ni kubwa.
*except a mercy from your Lord. Indeed His grace has been great upon you.
17:88
قُلْ لَئِنِ اجْتَمَعَتِ الْإِنْسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَىٰ أَنْ يَأْتُوا بِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ لَا يَأْتُونَ بِمِثْلِهِ وَلَوْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ ظَهِيرًا
*Sema: Wangeli kusanyika watu na majini ili walete mfano wa hii Qur´ani basi hawaleti mfano wake, hata wakisaidiana wao kwa wao.
*Say, ‘Should all humans and jinn rally to bring the like of this Quran, they will not bring its like, even if they assisted one another.’
17:89
وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَثَلٍ فَأَبَىٰ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا
*Na hakika tumewaeleza watu katika hii Qur´ani kwa kila mfano. Lakini watu wengi wanakataa isipo kuwa kukanusha tu.
*We have certainly interspersed this Quran with every [kind of] parable for the people, but most people are only intent on ingratitude.
17:90
وَقَالُوا لَنْ نُؤْمِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ تَفْجُرَ لَنَا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ يَنْبُوعًا
*Na walisema: Hatutakuamini mpaka ututimbulie chemchem katika ardhi hii.
*They say, ‘We will not believe you until you make a spring gush forth for us from the ground.
17:91
أَوْ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّةٌ مِنْ نَخِيلٍ وَعِنَبٍ فَتُفَجِّرَ الْأَنْهَارَ خِلَالَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
*Au uwe na kitalu cha mitende na mizabibu, na utupitishie mito kati yake ikimiminika.
*Or until you have a garden of date palms and vines and you make streams gush through it.
17:92
أَوْ تُسْقِطَ السَّمَاءَ كَمَا زَعَمْتَ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا أَوْ تَأْتِيَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ قَبِيلًا
*Au utuangushie mbingu vipande vipande kama ulivyo dai; au utuletee Mwenyezi Mungu na Malaika uso kwa uso.
*Or until you cause the sky to fall in fragments upon us, just as you have averred. Or until you bring Allah and the angels [right] in front of us.
17:93
أَوْ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيْتٌ مِنْ زُخْرُفٍ أَوْ تَرْقَىٰ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَلَنْ نُؤْمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّىٰ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا كِتَابًا نَقْرَؤُهُ ۗ قُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّي هَلْ كُنْتُ إِلَّا بَشَرًا رَسُولًا
*Au uwe na nyumba ya dhahabu, au upae mbinguni. Wala hatutaamini kupaa kwako mpaka ututeremshie kitabu tukisome. Sema: Subhana Rabbi, Ametakasika Mola wangu Mlezi! Kwani mimi ni nani isipo kuwa ni mwanaadamu na Mtume?
*Or until you have a house of gold, or you ascend into the sky. And we will not believe your ascension until you bring down for us a book that we may read.’ Say, ‘Immaculate is my Lord! Am I anything but a human apostle?!’
17:94
وَمَا مَنَعَ النَّاسَ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا إِذْ جَاءَهُمُ الْهُدَىٰ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا أَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ بَشَرًا رَسُولًا
*Na nini kilicho wazuilia watu kuamini ulipo wajia uwongofu isipo kuwa walisema: Je! Mwenyezi Mungu humtuma mwanaadamu kuwa ni Mtume?
*Nothing has kept these people from believing when guidance came to them, but their saying, ‘Has Allah sent a human as an apostle?!’
17:95
قُلْ لَوْ كَانَ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَلَائِكَةٌ يَمْشُونَ مُطْمَئِنِّينَ لَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَلَكًا رَسُولًا
*Sema: Ingeli kuwa duniani wapo Malaika wanatembea kwa utulivu wao, basi bila ya shaka tungeli wateremshia Malaika kuwa ni Mtume wao.
*Say, ‘Had there been angels in the earth, walking around and residing [in it like humans do], We would have sent down to them an angel from the heaven as apostle.’
17:96
قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيدًا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا بَصِيرًا
*Sema: Mwenyezi Mungu anatosha kuwa Shahidi baina yangu na nyinyi. Hakika Yeye anawajua vyema waja wake na anawaona.
*Say, ‘Allah suffices as witness between me and you. Indeed He is well aware His servants and a keen observer.’
17:97
وَمَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ مِنْ دُونِهِ ۖ وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ عُمْيًا وَبُكْمًا وَصُمًّا ۖ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ كُلَّمَا خَبَتْ زِدْنَاهُمْ سَعِيرًا
*Na anaye mhidi Mwenyezi Mungu basi huyo ndiye aliye hidika. Na anaye wapotoa basi huto wapatia walinzi badala yake. Na tutawakusanya Siku ya Kiyama hali wakikokotwa juu ya nyuso zao, nao ni vipofu na mabubu na viziwi. Na makaazi yao ni Jahannamu. Kila moto ukifanya kusinzia tutazidi kuuchochea uwake kwa nguvu.
*Whomever Allah guides is rightly guided, and whomever He leads astray—you will never for find them any guardians besides Him. On the Day of Resurrection, We shall muster them [scrambling] on their faces, blind, dumb, and deaf. Their refuge shall be hell. Whenever it subsides, We shall intensify the blaze for them.
17:98
ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاؤُهُمْ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا
*Hayo ni malipo yao kwa sababu walizikataa ishara zetu, na wakasema: Hivyo tukisha kuwa mifupa na mapande yaliyo vurugika tutafufuliwa kwa umbo jipya?
*That is their requital because they defied Our signs and said, ‘What, when we have become bones and dust, shall we really be raised in a new creation?’
17:99
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمْ أَجَلًا لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ فَأَبَى الظَّالِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُورًا
*Kwani hawakuona ya kwamba Mwenyezi Mungu aliye umba mbingu na ardhi ni Mwenye kuweza kuumba mfano wao? Na Yeye amewawekea muda usio na shaka yoyote. Lakini madhaalimu hawataki ila ukafiri.
*Do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and the earth, is able to create the like of them? He has appointed for them a term, in which there is no doubt; yet the wrongdoers are only intent on ingratitude.
17:100
قُلْ لَوْ أَنْتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَائِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّي إِذًا لَأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ الْإِنْفَاقِ ۚ وَكَانَ الْإِنْسَانُ قَتُورًا
*Sema: Lau kuwa nyinyi mnazimiliki khazina za rehema za Mola wangu Mlezi, basi hapana shaka mngeli zuia kuzitumia kwa ajili ya kukhofu. Na mwanaadamu tangu hapo tabia yake ni mchoyo!
*Say, ‘Even if you possessed the treasuries of my Lord’s mercy, you would withhold them for the fear of being spent, and man is very niggardly.’
17:101
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ تِسْعَ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ ۖ فَاسْأَلْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّي لَأَظُنُّكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ مَسْحُورًا
*Na kwa yakini tulimpa Musa ishara tisa zilizo wazi. Waulize Wana wa Israili alipo wafikia, na Firauni akawaambia: Hakika mimi nakuona wewe Musa umerogwa!
*Certainly We gave Moses nine manifest signs. So ask the Children of Israel. When he came to them, Pharaoh said to him, ‘O Moses, indeed I think you are bewitched.’
17:102
قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا أَنْزَلَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِلَّا رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ بَصَائِرَ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّكَ يَا فِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُورًا
*Musa akasema: Wewe unajua bila ya shaka kuwa haya hakuyateremsha ila Mola Mlezi wa mbingu na ardhi ili kuwa ni ushahidi wa kuonekana. Na hakika mimi bila ya shaka nakuona wewe, Firauni, kuwa umekwisha angamia.
*He said, ‘You certainly know that no one has sent these [signs] except the Lord of the heavens and the earth, as eye-openers, and I, O Pharaoh, indeed think you are doomed.’
17:103
فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْتَفِزَّهُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ جَمِيعًا
*Basi Firauni akataka kuwafukuza katika nchi. Kwa hivyo tukamzamisha yeye na walio kuwa pamoja naye wote.
*He desired to exterminate them from the land, so We drowned him and all those who were with him.
17:104
وَقُلْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اسْكُنُوا الْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفًا
*Na tukawaambia baada yake Wana wa Israili: Kaeni katika nchi. Itapo kuja ahadi ya Akhera tutakuleteni nyote pamoja.
*After him We said to the Children of Israel, ‘Take up residence in the land, and when the occasion of the other [promise] comes, We shall gather you in mixed company.’
17:105
وَبِالْحَقِّ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ وَبِالْحَقِّ نَزَلَ ۗ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا
*Na kwa Haki tumeiteremsha, na kwa Haki imeteremka. Na hatukukutuma ila uwe mbashiri na mwonyaji.
*With the truth did We send it down, and with the truth did it descend, and We did not send you except as a bearer of good news and as a warner.
17:106
وَقُرْآنًا فَرَقْنَاهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُ عَلَى النَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٍ وَنَزَّلْنَاهُ تَنْزِيلًا
*Na Qur´ani tumeigawanya sehemu mbali mbali ili uwasomee watu kwa kituo, na tumeiteremsha kidogo kidogo.
*We have sent the Quran in [discrete] parts so that you may recite it for the people a little at a time, and We have sent it down piecemeal.
17:107
قُلْ آمِنُوا بِهِ أَوْ لَا تُؤْمِنُوا ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ إِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ سُجَّدًا
*Sema: Iaminini au msiiamini. Hakika wale walio pewa ilimu kabla yake, wanapo somewa hii, huanguka kifudifudi wanasujudu.
*Say, ‘Whether you believe in it, or do not believe in it, indeed when it is recited to those who were given knowledge before it, they fall down in prostration on their faces,
17:108
وَيَقُولُونَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنْ كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولًا
*Na wanasema: Subhana Rabbina, Ametakasika Mola wetu Mlezi! Hakika ahadi ya Mola wetu Mlezi lazima itimizwe!
*and say, ‘‘Immaculate is our Lord! Indeed Our Lord’s promise is bound to be fulfilled.’’
17:109
وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا ۩
*Na huanguka kifudifudi na huku wanalia, na inawazidisha unyenyekevu.
*Weeping, they fall down on their faces, and it increases them in humility.’
17:110
قُلِ ادْعُوا اللَّهَ أَوِ ادْعُوا الرَّحْمَٰنَ ۖ أَيًّا مَا تَدْعُوا فَلَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا وَابْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلًا
*Sema: Mwombeni Allah (Mwenyezi Mungu), au mwombeni Rahman (Mwingi wa Rehema), kwa jina lolote mnalo mwita. Kwani Yeye ana majina mazuri mazuri. Wala usitangaze Sala yako kwa sauti kubwa, wala usiifiche kwa sauti ndogo, bali shika njia ya kati na kati ya hizo.
*Say, ‘Invoke ‘‘Allah’’ or invoke ‘‘the All-beneficent.’’ Whichever [of His Names] you may invoke, to Him belong the Best Names.’ Be neither loud in your prayer, nor murmur it, but follow a middle course between these,
17:111
وَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَدًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ الذُّلِّ ۖ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيرًا
*Na sema: Alhamdulillah, Himdi zote ni za Mwenyezi Mungu ambaye hana mwana, wala hana mshirika katika ufalme, wala hana rafiki wa kumsaidia kwa sababu ya udhaifu wake. Na mtukuze kwa utukufu mkubwa.
*and say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has neither taken any son, nor has He any partner in sovereignty, nor has He any wali out of weakness,’ and magnify Him with a magnification [worthy of Him].
